Despite the various periods of change NXT has gone through in recent years, the reason it was created remains at its core. It's the brand on which WWE builds and molds its future stars. Look no further than the current roster for evidence of how high NXT's success rate is. Roman Reigns, Seth Rollins, Charlotte Flair, Kevin Owens, Becky Lynch, Bianca Belair. The list of main roster stars, including most who can be found at the top of the card, who once called NXT home is a long one.

WrestleMania Main Eventer Von Wagner

There are also a few stars in NXT right now who will likely be as big as those names in half a decade or more. Cora Jade, Bron Breakker, and Grayson Waller all seem destined for greatness. One name on WWE's list of future stars of the highest order that might not be on yours is Von Wagner. Despite appearing on NXT TV sparingly, apparently WWE sees Von Wagner as a potential WrestleMania main eventer.

Dave Meltzer discussed Von Wagner and WWE's vision for him on Wrestling Observer Radio (via Inside The Ropes), noting that he's tall, blonde, and the company wants him to be a WrestleMania main eventer. Meltzer added “you need charisma to get to that level” which might sound a little harsh on the surface, but you definitely need to do more than just look the part if you want to reach the loftiest level WWE has to offer.

Von Wagner In NXT

Von Wagner definitely has the look, but he doesn't have that “it” factor that comes with having charisma. If you watch NXT on a regular basis, you'll know he isn't featured often which means even though WWE has high aspirations for him, they also know he's still a long way off being the end product. But hey, that's what NXT is for. There are top performers on the main roster right now who were probably once in the same position Von Wagner is in right now.

Von Wagner appears to be going through something of a test right now as it's been a while since he picked up a win on NXT TV. He beat Oba Femi, who will debut on the main show at Spring Breakin', on Lvl Up in January, and you need to go all the way back to November of last year to find his last win on NXT TV. Maybe this period of Von Wagner's career will be a distant memory if all goes to plan and he's main-eventing WrestleMania 46.
