WWE Draws Massive Ratings For Raw Is XXX 30th Anniversary Episode

Writer Michael Hansen

On Monday night's 30th anniversary Raw episode, cleverly titled Raw Is XXX, WWE brought back many of its legends while also advancing several storylines. The opening segment involving The Trial of Sami Zayn, in which Roman Reigns found the Honorary Uce not guilty (for now) was riveting television. A later passing of the torch moment between The Undertaker and Bray Wyatt was goosebumps inducing. And even though the Bayley vs Becky Lynch cage match didn't go as planned, a great tag match between The Usos and Judgment Day, along with a main event that saw Brock Lesnar return during an Austin Theory vs Bobby Lashley United States Championship match, made for a memorable show. The buzz surrounding the show, and the fact that Monday was the first night WWE wasn't up against football in many months, resulted in huge ratings for Raw. According to Wrestlenomics, Raw averaged a whopping 2.344 million viewers. That is almost a million more than the January 16th episode or Raw, which saw 1.489 million tune in. Just as impressive was the coveted 18-49 age group demo, which drew a .70 rating. Both of these numbers are the highest Raw has done in nearly three years.

Can WWE Keep Raw's Ratings Up Heading Into WrestleMania 39?

With the Royal Rumble this Saturday, viewership is sure to be high again for next Monday's Raw due to the event's fallout. Going into WrestleMania season, this is traditionally where Raw's ratings are the best for the year. WWE certainly has a lot going on to keep fans interested, from the brilliant storytelling between The Bloodline and Sami Zayn, the imminent return of Cody Rhodes, and the setup for whoever will challenge Reigns on The Grandest Stage of Them All.
