At the age of 51, the fact that Ron Killings, known in WWE as R-Truth, still looks and performs as impressively he does is a wonder to behold. He's a certain WWE Hall of Famer whenever he decides to hang up his wrestling boots. Though he's never been a main eventer in WWE, he's always been immensely entertaining, especially on the mic. Now that's he in the last years of his career, R-Truth has spent much of his time helping to bring up the next generation of WWE talent. It was in doing this, in a match in NXT, that R-Truth suffered a horrible live-on-TV injury a few months back. He has been absent from WWE ever since. Here's what happened to one of wrestling's most underrated talents.
R-Truth Is One Of WWE'S Most Entertaining Stars
R-Truth's wrestling career goes back to the late 1990s, where after a time in NWA, he joined WWE during the peak Attitude Era in 1999. Known then as K-Kwik, Truth teamed with Road Dogg for a time and even became a Hardcore Champion. In 2002, after being released by WWE, R-Truth went to TNA, and now known as Ron "The Truth" Killings, he became a world champion. After five years, Truth left TNA to rejoin WWE in 2008.
R-Truth has been in WWE ever since and its this second run with the company where he's found his biggest success. That happened due to Truth being willing to work with anything he was given. Truth had the look and skills to be taken seriously, but his timing made him a great comedy act, from his "Little Jimmy" stuff over a decade ago to his crazy 24/7 Championship reigns. R-Truth is a hilarious character, and all of that success is due to him being willing to go all in.

R-Truth Was Injured During A Match In NXT
After being a 53-time 24/7 Champion, the title was retired last November, and R-Truth needed something new to do. He started showing up on NXT, and on November 1st, he had a match with Grayson Waller. The match was only a few minutes old when, with Waller on the outside, R-Truth did a flip from the ring to the floor below, but missed landing on Waller almost completely. Instead, he crashed hard to the floor. As he writhed in pain, it was obvious that he was seriously injured. The referee immediately stopped the match and awarded the contest to Waller.
A week later, R-Truth posted an update on his health in a Twitter video, saying, "First off, I want to thank each and every one of y'all for y'all concerns and your get-wells, your prayers, your support. Yes, unfortunately, I got hurt. I did tear my quad tendon, and I'm at the surgery now as we speak. It is what it is, right? Y'all know I'll be back. I wanna thank you. Without you, there ain't no me. I'll be back before y'all know it." (h/t Wrestling Inc.)
A few days later, after the surgery, Truth shared another update which included a photo of him from his hospital bed. After thanking fans for their support, he said, "Surgery went well. Stay tuned."

R-Truth Says He Will Be Back In WWE Soon
In January, R-Truth updated fans about his condition on his YouTube page, revealing that there had been a setback in his recovery. "Still healing up. Still healing up from my quad injury. I'm going back to WWE. I just have to heal up. I had to have two surgeries, a lot of people don't know that. I caught an infection, so I had to have another surgery. That set me back, but y'all know me, I'm coming back probably sooner than y'all think." (h/t Fightful)
Truth also spoke about undergoing physical therapy and his desire to go back to NXT when he returns. At 51, Truth's wrestling days might be limited, but his presence and fun comedy have certainly been missed on WWE television. Whether he returns to NXT, Raw, or SmackDown, it will be great to see him again.
