Who The Vault Is In AC Valhalla
Michael Hansen
One of the council members of Jorvik in Assassin's Creed Valhalla has to be the Vault, but which of the four would actually betray their city?
The "Closing the Vault" quest in Assassin's Creed Valhalla sets players on a detective mission to discover who the Vault is. This mysterious criminal figure is believed to be a council member of Jorvik who plans to use the Yuletide Festival to poison the town's nobles with tainted wine. Though there are only four council members to choose from, the investigation into which of them is responsible is more tricky than it first appears.
Jorvik has become crime ridden due to a group called the Red Hand and their resentment toward the town's Christian inhabitants. The group is led by a few figureheads such as the Firebrand and the Needle, but both of these characters are ultimately supported by a criminal mastermind known as the Vault. Assassin's Creed Valhalla protagonist Eivor finds that the Vault must be a council member because the Needle used the council's stamp to trick people in Jorvik into believing he had more authority than he actually did. This means that either Faravid, Ricsige, Audun, or even Hjorr (one of Eivor's friends) could be the Vault.
Even though AC Valhalla gives players the opportunity to choose who they think the Vault is, the criminal mastermind eventually reveals himself. By kicking off the Yuletide Feast with a toast that criticizes the people of Jorvik for their sins, Audun reveals himself to the person pulling the strings of the Red Hand. Though this reveal can come across as a surprise, hints throughout the Jorvik questline make it clear that seemingly kind Audun always had ill intentions.
How To Spot The Vault In AC Valhalla
Upon meeting the council members in the setting of Jorvik in Assassin's Creed Valhalla, Audun raises suspicions with his gentle yet relentless advocacy of celebrating the Yuletide Festival. What makes this action noteworthy is that Jorvik is both suffering from crime issues because of the Red Hand and supply issues - there simply is not enough food and drink to hold the event. His lack of concern regarding the Red Hand and his town's state of affairs indicate that he holds the same reckless disregard for Jorvik as the criminals who terrorize it.
An even clearer indication is his association with the Abbess. In the mission "Burning the Firebrand", it is revealed that the Abbess is the Firebrand in AC Valhalla who has been collecting Christian scrolls and burning them. But before this, she can be found with Audun, discussing with him about his collection of Christian scrolls. That the two seem friendly with each other just before the Firebrand burns many scrolls clearly show the two have a nefarious affiliation with one another. Combined with the foreknowledge about Audun's advocacy for the Yuletide Festival, it becomes clear that no other council member could have been the Vault, making this story one of AC Valhalla's that's worth finishing.
