Timberwolves Star Told By Management He Will Be Moved

It's been over a month since Minnesota Timberwolves All-Star Jimmy Butler asked the team for a trade, and the team remains active in trying to find the right deal for their franchise player.
Per Malika Andrews of ESPN.com, Timberwolves owner Glen Taylor "assured Butler" that they continue to look for a trade to accommodate his request. Per Andrews, it's expected that the team would "seriously revisit" Butler trade calls 10-15 games into the 2018-19 campaign.
It was reported by ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski last weak that the Houston Rockets offered four first-round picks to the Timberwolves for Butler. But Minnesota wants Eric Gordon as part of the return package, per Andrews. Whether or not the Rockets end up parting with the standout shooting guard remains to be seen.
Initially, Wojnarowski reported that Butler wanted a trade to either the Brooklyn Nets, New York Knicks or Los Angeles Clippers, because all three teams have the necessary cap space to offer him the super max contract.

However, the Knicks and Nets never seemingly got that involved in trade talks, while Chris Haynes of Yahoo Sports reported that the Timberwolves wanted Tobias Harris as part of a return from the Clippers. Los Angeles wasn't willing to give him up in a deal, however.
Butler hasn't missed a beat this season amid all the drama, averaging 20.6 points, 3.2 assists and 5.2 rebounds per game. The world class two-way player is setting himself up nicely for a big payday this offseason - whether it comes from the team he gets traded to or in free agency.
Butler is a top-15 player in the NBA, so it's understandable as to why the Timberwolves are patiently trying to find the right deal. They don't appear interested in bundles of picks and young assets, but rather impact players that can help them still compete for a playoff spot.
