The Kennel From Hell & 9 Other Goofy Match Stipulations
Owen Barnes
The main difference between pro-wrestling and other combat sports is that the former does not stick exclusively to hard-hitting action and use various storylines to make the fans invested in their product. You see, wrestling companies like the WWE wanted to invoke every feeling from their fans, and one of the most common methods they use is to come up with some unique match stipulations.

Some of their discoveries like Hell in a Cell and Elimination Chamber transitioned on to become iconic gimmick matches that even spawned their own PPVs. But the stipulations they chose for some particular contests did raise some eyebrows. With that said, let's take a look at ten of the goofiest match stipulations in pro-wrestling history.
10 Kennel From Hell Match
Every single performer stepping inside the squared circle would like to make it big in the business and become the Big Dog. Often, this would lead to heated rivalries that make for good feuds. Thing is, WWE chose probably the most bizarre way to deal with two aspiring Big Dog's in a Kennel from Hell match. The match took place at the 1999 Unforgiven, between Al Snow and The Big Boss Man with the Hardcore Championship on the line.
WWE had a steel cage inside of a Hell in a Cell, and the first superstar to escape both structures was the winner. Officials and stagehands led several vicious rottweilers to the ring, keeping them in the area between the cell and the cage. Problem is, they didn't make sure they were potty trained as the rottweilers began to relieve themselves and even attempted to mate during the match. Coincidentally, this isn't the only dog-themed match.
9 Cry Baby Match
The heels in pro-wrestling would constantly complain about their shortcomings and how they deserve more opportunities. Often, fans would equate such behavior with that of a spoiled crying baby. WWE, taking this insult literally, thought it was a good idea to use that as the stipulation for the match between Razor Ramon and 1-2-3 Kid at the In Your House-6 in 1996.
The stipulation was the loser had to wear diapers and had to suck from a bottle like a baby. Razor Ramon picked up the win and did the honors, dressing up 1-2-3 Kid with a diaper and sticking a bottle in his mouth for the final humiliation. The match was embarrassing not just for the wrestlers, but everyone watching it.
8 Hog Pen Match
Even before he donned the moniker "The Game," Triple H has been a part of the pro-wrestling business for over two decades and has competed in many iconic matches. The Game would be proud of all the bouts he’s been in so far, but it’s unlikely if he feels the same way about the Hog Pen match he had against Henry O. Godwinn.
The match took place at In Your House: 5 in 1995, and the only way to win the contest was to throw the opponent inside a hog pen erected in the arena. Triple H emerged as the victor but still got humiliated after getting thrown inside the hog pen after the match.
7 Blindfold Match
It's always advisable for a pro-wrestler to have his eyes wide open while competing inside the ring. But promotions wanted their performers to defy the odds on a few occasions, as seen in those weird times the wrestlers were made to compete with a blindfold.

This stipulation is handed out as a handicap for a certain performer, even if both wrestlers are blindfolded. If it's a babyface wearing the blindfold, he'll get help from the fans who'll give him the right directions towards his foe but if it's a heel, the crowd will take liberty in sending him in the wrong direction.
6 Bra & Panties Match
Wrestling fans back then didn't care about the backstage rumors and enjoyed wrestling as it meant to be, so they didn't care about a woman stripping another woman on live television. The Bra and Panties match was one of the most famous stipulations in women's wrestling during the Attitude Era, where the only way to win the bout was to strip their opponents to nothing but their bra and panties.
Torrie Wilson defeated Melina at the 2005 Great American Bash, and it was the final time WWE used the stipulation before giving it an unofficial retirement. This kind of match would not fly, especially in an age where female wrestlers are now considered to be as legitimate as their male counterparts.
5 Las Vegas Showgirl Match
With a career spanning over 37 years, William Regal is well-known among pro-wrestling fans. He has won 20 championships across different promotions throughout his career and is also WWE's 2008 King of the Ring. But all these accolades never stopped Regal from doing whatever it took to entertain fans, be it hardcore wrestling or dressing up like a Las Vegas Showgirl.
Regal took on Goldust on the first-ever Raw Roulette edition of RAW and unfortunately, the wheels stopped on a Las Vegas Showgirl match. While his already eccentric opponent didn't have any problem donning the showgirl outfit, Regal had to get dragged out to the stage where he made the walk of shame.
4 Custody Of Dominick Ladder Match
Dominick Mysterio may be on his way to becoming a legitimate WWE Superstar and found a high-profile rivalry against Seth Rollins for this year's SummerSlam but long before that, the first thing the fans would remember about him was the infamous Custody of Dominick Ladder Match.

Apart from the two superstars that were involved in the match, there was nothing logical about the stipulation as Eddie Guerrero and Rey Mysterio competed for the custody of a child inside a wrestling ring. The bout took place at (coincidentally) the 2005 SummerSlam PPV, and Rey Mysterio overcame Eddie Guerrero's heel tactics to win the ladder match and gained custody of his son Dominick.
3 Eye For An Eye Match
Seth Rollins took his feud with Rey Mysterio to the next level when he injured the luchador's eye with the steel steps on the May 11, 2020, episode of RAW. Mysterio looked for retribution against Rollins and challenged him to an Eye for an Eye match at this year's Extreme Rules.
The only way to win the match was to extract the opponent's eye out of its socket. Fans were smart enough to understand what was going to happen, and it played out exactly how they thought it would when the wrestlers used a fake eyeball during the match.
2 Loser Eats Dog Food
Roman Reigns and Baron Corbin entered into a heated rivalry last year, and both superstars got on each other's nerves throughout the feud. Corbin gained the upper hand when he humiliated Reigns by handcuffing him to the ring post and covered him with dog food.
Fans knew where exactly WWE was going with this feud, and soon enough the company booked a Loser Eats Dog Food match between the two superstars on the January 31, 2020, episode of SmackDown. Reigns defeated Corbin and showered him with dog food after the win with some help from his cousins, The Usos.
1 Dog Poo Match
Apart from Tommy Dreamer drinking The Undertaker's tobacco spit and Eddie Guerrero spraying The Big Show with a truckload of excrement, what else could be the grossest thing we saw in WWE? How about the infamous dog poo match between The Rock and The British Bull Dog?
As implied by the name, the he only way to win the match was to slam the opponent on to a tray of dog poo. The feud culminated with The Rock hitting his Rock Bottom on the British Bull Dog and left him lying in the middle of the ring on top of a tray of dog poo.
