Professional Background
Dr. Fatima is an Assistant Professor at the KU Department of Pediatrics-Wichita. She received her medical degree from Dow Medical College, Dow University of Health Sciences, Karachi, Pakistan. She was awarded the title of “Best graduate” based on her outstanding academic achievements over the course of her medical school education, graduating with 16 honors in various subjects. This was coupled with her various awards nationwide as part of her college’s debate team.
Dr. Fatima completed her residency in Pediatrics at Einstein Medical Center, Philadelphia, PA, where she was nominated for the “Excellence in Clinical Projects” award by her faculty. Additionally, as a resident physician, she won a travel grant sponsored by the Society of Hospital Medicine to attend the Pediatric Hospital Medicine Conference in 2018. She was also involved in various community projects during residency, including being the resident champion for her institution’s “Reach out and Read” program.
Dr. Fatima has co-authored several peer-reviewed articles over the course of her career. These include original research, case reports and perspective articles. She regularly contributes to various medical blogs, voicing her opinion on pressing issues faced by the healthcare community. She is a strong advocate of physician wellness and prevention of burnout/suicide through her narrative writing. She is a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics and Academic Pediatric Association, and is actively involved in the development of an inpatient curriculum for pediatric residents.
