Queer Love Reunion Mishandled Inviting Mildred After Arrest
Emma Terry
The Ultimatum: Queer Love season 1 made a massive mistake when they decided to invite cast member Mildred Woody to the reunion after her arrest.
The Ultimatum: Queer Love season 1 featured several messy moments, but nothing was handled as poorly as Mildred Woody attending the reunion without repercussions after assaulting her ex Tiff Der. Tiff and Mildred appeared on the show after Mildred issued Tiff a marriage ultimatum. While Tiff grew over the season and proposed in the finale, Mildred showed a shocking lack of growth and a violent streak that should have prevented her from attending the reunion.
Mildred and Tiff ended up swapping partners on The Ultimatum: Queer Love season 1 with original couple Sam Mark and Aussie Chau. Mildred paired up with Aussie while Tiff and Sam moved in together. Tiff and Sam became close friends and explored how to communicate healthily, with Sam helping Tiff to learn proper communication. However, things soured quickly with Mildred and Aussie, causing Aussie to move out early due to Mildred's aggression. Tiff and Mildred split by the time of the reunion and shared that Mildred had been arrested for assaulting Tiff. Tiff ended up leaving the reunion early due to Mildred's abuse.
Mildred Should Have Been Called Out
The Ultimatum: Queer Love season 1 dropped the ball on handling the Mildred situation, as she was not called out at the reunion. Instead, Mildred shared the news of her arrest in a way that blamed Tiff for calling the cops after Mildred assaulted Tiff. While it was questionable to invite Mildred to the reunion since she had assaulted a fellow cast member, her inclusion should have at least featured her having to own up to her behavior. However, Mildred played the victim and continued to lash out at Tiff. Tiff felt so unsafe that they left the reunion, which was an unfair situation for Tiff to be put in.
Tiff Deserved More Cast Member Support
Unfortunately, Tiff received very little help from their fellow cast members. Sam comforted Tiff while Sam and Aussie called out Mildred and stood up for Tiff. However, Xander Boger, Vanessa Papa, Lexi Goldberg, Raelyn Cheung-Sutton, Mal Wright, Yoly Rojas, and host Joanna GarcĂa Swisher all seemed to give Mildred a free pass when it came to what happened. Unfortunately, Tiff was put in a situation where they were being silenced by someone who had abused them, while they didn't have many people on their side to validate their side of the story.
While The Ultimatum: Queer Love season 1 hit many notes right, the way Mildred was handled at the reunion was a low point. Tiff was placed in an unsafe situation, while Mildred was given far too much grace. Since Mildred was arrested, a background check before the reunion so all the cast members could attend in peace. However, it's possible that Tiff agreed to see Mildred before they became too overwhelmed by her behavior.
