NXT's Ava Raine Appears To Have Lost Her Last Name
Isabella Bartlett
If you thought sudden and unexplained name changes were a part of the Vince McMahon era that has now been left behind, think again. Whether it's a complete refresh or someone losing a first or last name, that trend has continued, even without McMahon at the helm, and NXT's Ava Raine is the latest example of that.
Ava Raine's Last Name
Raine has ushered in the era of fourth-generation Superstars. The Rock's daughter was introduced to NXT fans in 2022, joining up with The Schism. Despite lurking in the shadows for months, Raine hasn't actually wrestled a match yet. The pieces for that debut are slowly falling into place though, and it seems a change is one of those pieces.

First spotted and reported by WrestlingNews.co, Raine appears to have lost her last name, at least professionally. Since Raine is yet to wrestle a match, and the few times she has been introduced on TV it has been under her group's name, relying on announcers and graphics to keep abreast of what she's called isn't an option. Checking her profile on WWE.com, however, has revealed she is just called Ava.
Just Ava
Simply listed as Ava on WWE's website, the fourth-generation wrestler appears to be the latest Superstar to get the one-name treatment. An interesting choice as some wrestlers have been getting their McMahon-led name changes reversed since Triple H became head of creative. Doudrop is once again Piper Niven, Theory is Auston Theory, and Riddle is back to being called Matt Riddle, or he will be if and when he returns.
As noted, landing on a final name for Ava may well be in preparation for her long-awaited in-ring debut. The Schism member has been tormenting Chase U's Thea Hail for the last few weeks. A match between the two is yet to be officially confirmed, but Ava making her in-ring debut at NXT Roadblock seems very likely.
