Research

Overview

I have been director of stroke research since 2017. I oversee multiple international, national, and local research projects that our team is involved in and am the site investigator on multiple clinical trials. One trial that I was the site investigator on, the DAWN trial, helped changed the updated 2018 acute stroke guidelines, extending endovascular stroke treatment up to 24 hours. Current trials that we are involved in are: SELECT 2, TIMELESS, CHARM, MASTERS 2, MOST, SATURN, PICASSO, and ASSIST.

Projects that I oversee at the hospital level include, but are not limited to, venous stenting for idiopathic intracranial hypertension/pseudotumor cerebri, stroke, emergent carotid artery stenting, aneurysmal subarachnoid hemorrhage, and vasospasm. I mentor our stroke fellow, multiple residents, medical students, and undergraduate pre-med students in research projects. Our manuscripts and abstracts have been accepted in national and international conferences and many have been published.

I work closely with our Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation Science team, Neurosurgery team, and Radiology team in multiple research collaborations.
