How To Craft a Spyglass in Minecraft (& What It's For)
Matthew Cannon
Minecraft's newest content update has added many new objects for players to craft and use. This guide shows players how to craft the Spyglass.
The core gameplay loop of Minecraft has always been to harvest as many different resources as possible to craft new objects that in turn allow the player to harvest resources more efficiently. That hasn't changed much over the last ten years, and the most recent update, called Caves and Cliffs, only adds more items for players to experiment with. Players will be able to combine these new items in many different ways to obtain different pieces of equipment and objects.
One of the newest additions to the game is the Spyglass players can use to see objects from far away. By peering in one end of the device, players can get a close-up image of whatever they are looking at, which can be very useful when trying to determine where to go exploring next in the world. This guide shows players how to obtain the resources needed to craft the Spyglass in Minecraft and how to use it.
Minecraft: How to Craft the Spyglass
Players who want to get their first Spyglass won't need to work too terribly hard, but they will need to track down a brand new resource type, Amethyst. The Spyglass can be crafted using two Copper Ingots and one Amethyst Shard. Copper should be fairly easy to track down. To get Copper, players will need to search for Copper Ore underground. They will then smelt Copper Ore into a few Ingots.
The Amethyst Shard on the other hand can only be found by tracking down an Amethyst Geode underground. These can spawn anywhere throughout the world. Players will need to mine the special Amethyst Cluster blocks to get Amethyst Shards.
Once players have two Copper Ingots and one Amethyst Shard, they can combine them at the Crafting Table. This needs to be done in a specific pattern for players to get the Spyglass item. The Amethyst Shard needs to be placed in the top middle box of the grid. The player can then place the Copper Bars in a line in the two boxes below the Shard. This will create the Spyglass.
To use the Spyglass in Minecraft, players must interact with it. They will be able to see things located farther away from them, including enemies and resources.
