How Powerful Is Ezra Bridger Compared To Luke Skywalker?
Daniel Cobb
Ezra Bridger is very similar to Luke Skywalker, and though they’ve never met, one of these characters is far more powerful in the Star Wars galaxy.
Summary
- Ezra Bridger is a Force prodigy, learning the ways of the Force quickly and displaying immense power at a young age.
- Ezra possesses unique Force talents, including a strong connection to animals and the ability to fight effectively without a lightsaber.
- Despite his accomplishments, Ezra is not as powerful as Luke Skywalker, who has the legacy of being Anakin Skywalker's son and has less training but greater recognition in the Star Wars galaxy.
Ahsoka reintroduced Jedi Ezra Bridger into the Star Wars galaxy, but it does raise the question of how powerful he is, and whether he’s stronger than Luke Skywalker. The two Jedi have many similarities, including being born around the same day—Empire Day. Empire Day was when the Empire was originally established, which was hours after the initial execution of Order 66 and the slaughter of the Jedi, with Padmé Amidala’s death just after giving birth to twins Luke and Leia just two days later. Oddly, Luke Skywalker and Ezra Bridger’s similarities don’t end there.
Throughout the course of Star Wars Rebels, Ezra nearly meets Luke in the Rebels season 3 episode “Twin Suns,” which sees Ezra travel to Tatooine to warn Obi-Wan Kenobi that Maul is going to kill him. Luke can be seen at the end of the episode as Aunt Beru calls him back into their home. Ezra also met Luke’s sister Leia in the Rebels season 2 episode “A Princess on Lothal.” Despite these connections, Luke and Ezra have never met. It’s possible the two could connect in Ahsoka season 2, or even in Dave Filoni’s The Mandalorian-era movie, where the more powerful Jedi will be determined.
Ezra Bridger Is A Force Prodigy
There is no doubt that Ezra Bridger is strong with the Force, especially after his greatest moment in Ahsoka. However, he learned the ways of the Force much faster than anyone thought. He was about 14 when he met his master, Kanan Jarrus, and began his Jedi training. In Rebels, Kanan even says that he was shocked Ezra got his kyber crystal so soon into his training. Ezra was a quick learner, and while his age may have been a factor in that, even before he knew about the Force he was able to sense other Force-sensitive people like Kanan, showing he had a strong natural bond with the energy field.
Similarly to Luke Skywalker, the Force felt natural to Ezra, and he was able to learn and grow quickly. Just about two years into his training, he was incredibly powerful, something that even caught Darth Maul’s attention. While Ezra had a brief stint using the dark side, he still did it with good intentions. He wanted to become more powerful to protect the ones he loved, and while the Sith Holocron wasn’t the way to do that, Ezra ultimately became a better Jedi because of the trial.
Luke Skywalker's 9 Greatest Force Feats (In Canon & Legends)
Luke Skywalker becomes an astoundingly powerful Jedi in the Star Wars canon and Legends continuities, but what are his greatest Force-powered feats?Ezra Possesses Some Unique Force Talents
One of Ezra’s most impressive Force talents is his connection to animals. Time and time again during Rebels, Ezra would make bonds with creatures that would eventually aid him and the other members of the Ghost. Ezra’s connection to these animals also gives him immense empathy for them. Creatures like Star Wars’ space whale purrgil instantly connected with Ezra, and they ended up saving him and other members of the Ghost crew. This connection would later be vital when Ezra called upon the purrgil to help liberate Lothal and take Grand Admiral Thrawn and his forces away from the planet.
Ezra also had an impressive connection with loth-wolves and loth-cats, both of which he used during Rebels. It’s theorized that one of the loth-wolves is actually Kanan Jarrus’ essence, as it has the same design on its head that Kanan had on his face mask. This isn’t Ezra’s only talent, though. As seen in Ahsoka episode 7, he doesn’t need a lightsaber to be an effective fighter, and that the Force is truly all he needs. After nine years without a lightsaber, that isn’t surprising, but Ezra was able to bend Shin Hati’s lightsaber blade, using only the Force, further showing his strong connection to it.
30 Most Powerful Jedi In Star Wars, Officially Ranked Weakest To Strongest
Fans have followed a lot of Jedi through the expansive Star Wars universe but which among them can be considered the strongest?Ezra Isn't The Son Of The Chosen One - Meaning He's No Luke Skywalker
Despite everything Ezra Bridger has accomplished and his skills in the Force, he still isn’t Luke Skywalker. Luke’s legacy as Anakin Skywalker’s son made him exponentially more powerful than Ezra. Additionally, Luke had far less training than Ezra and was able to defeat Darth Vader. Luke had seemingly next to no training when he destroyed the first Death Star in A New Hope, while it took Ezra months to learn how to deflect blaster bolts using a lightsaber. While both characters are great Jedi and are incredibly powerful, it ultimately is Luke Skywalker who is not only more powerful, but whose name carries more recognition across the Star Wars galaxy.
