Hidden Details Only The Live Crowd At AEW Double Or Nothing 2022 Saw

Temperatures climbed past 90° outside the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. AEW fans, staff, and wresters worked to exceed that temperature inside the arena with their consistent energy for Double Or Nothing. In what was AEW's first million-dollar gate, ticket holders certainly got their money's worth with a show that lasted well over four hours. Beyond that, fans in attendance were privy to certain details that the PPV audience may have missed.

AEW Stars Walking Around Las Vegas Casinos

AEW's Las Vegas stint started on Wednesday with Dynamite. Since then, the wrestlers have been having fun in Sin City. Not only at the events like AEW Fan Fest and Karaoke, but many of the top stars could be spotted roaming around casinos or the strip. Lucky fans were able to get a fist bump, a selfie, or a kind word from some of their favorite stars throughout the weekend.

Wardlow Chants Outside The Arena

Before the doors of the T-Mobile Arena opened, many fans were still wondering if MJF would show up to the event. However, there was no mystery about whom the capacity crowd was rooting for. Deafening chants of "Wardlow" rung as fans waited to get in. Of course, the volume was only a fraction as loud as when Wardlow finally got the pin over Maxwell Jacob Friedman, freeing him from his contract and making him officially All Elite.

A Cody Rhodes Appearance At Double Or Nothing

The American Nightmare's presence was felt before Double or Nothing. No, he didn't make an actual appearance. But WWE tried to capitalize on the thousands of wrestling fans in Vegas. They had a mobile advertising truck promote the upcoming Money In The Bank show. An ad that featured Cody Rhodes circled the T-Mobile Arena in the hours leading up to AEW's PPV. This marketing device was executed two days after WWE moved Money In The Bank from Allegiant Stadium to the MGM Grand Arena due to the lack of ticket sales.

Fans Left Their Seats During Jade Cargill Vs Anna Jay

Double Or Nothing was long. Very long. In a show with little to no downtime, fans had to be strategic about when to use the restroom or go for the second (or third) beer. Unfortunately, for the wrestlers, hundreds of fans chose the same time to stretch their legs.

The TBS Championship match between Jade Cargill and Anna Jay saw fans leaving their seats in droves. While Jade Cargill is an unquestionable star in the making (you can look at her quarterly ratings numbers for evidence), the match's build was nonexistent. On top of that, the result was never really in doubt.

Thankfully, it seemed most of the fans made it back to their seats in time for the debuts of Athena and the artist formerly known as Malcom Bivens. Athena's entrance, specifically, got an enormous pop from the freshly relieved Las Vegas crowd.

Anarchy In The Arena Lived Up To Its Name

Words can't describe what it was like being in the arena for the insanely entertaining Anarchy In The Arena match. But if we had to choose one word, it'd be PANDAMONIUM!

The early choice to have Moxley's Wild Thing theme music play on loop went over tremendously well with the fans. They not only sang the entire time, but they got louder with each verse and chorus. When Jericho pulled the plug on the music, the capacity crowd showered him with thunderous jeers and chanted, "We Want Music!"

Fans who thought they had cheap seats would suddenly have wrestlers in their laps, fighting for their lives. The audience had to keep their heads on swivels to catch as much action as possible. This match's electricity was a necessary adrenaline bump for the crowd that had already been inside for nearly four hours.

CM Punk's Post-Match Promo

CM Punk won his first world championship in nine long years. Fans in attendance and at home celebrated as the show went off the air. But once the red lights turned off, Punk grabbed a microphone. Before he could speak, he was joined by Ring Of Honor Tag Team Champions, FTR. Punk asked them, "from now until I retire, make sure I never attempt a Buckshot Lariat ever again."

Speaking from the heart, Punk thanked his wife, the entire AEW staff, and the pro-wrestling fans. He acknowledged that this was the first-ever million-dollar gate for the company and the largest indoor attendance they've had to date. He concluded by saying, "You ain't seen nothing yet!"

With moist eyes, numb butts, and raspy voices, the Las Vegas crowd walked out of the T-Mobile arena to the soundtrack of Cult Of Personality. Even in a city that never sleeps, few fans would have energy for much else after that long and eventful PPV (except, of course, for Tony Khan).
