Charlotte Flair May Have Injured Her Neck As Well As Her Knee
Daniel Davis
Highlights
- Charlotte Flair's knee and neck injuries will keep her out of action until around September 2024, causing her to miss major events like the Royal Rumble, WrestleMania 40, and possibly SummerSlam next year.
- Flair's injuries include a torn MCL, ACL, and meniscus, and likely a strained neck. Pushing through injuries can worsen the condition and prolong recovery time.
- Flair's goal of surpassing her dad's record of 16 World Championships will be put on hold, but WWE may still have plans for her during the important three-month period leading to WrestleMania. They may now need to alter those plans due to her injury.
Charlotte Flair suffered an injury earlier this month while wrestling Asuka on SmackDown that has seriously altered how her 2024 is going to look. Given a recovery time of at least nine months, The Queen will now miss both the Royal Rumble and WrestleMania 40, and probably next year's SummerSlam too. The full extent of Flair's knee injury has now been revealed, and it has also been reported that Flair may have hurt her neck in the same match.
Knee And Neck Injuries
F4WOnline confirms that Flair will undergo surgery on her MCL, ACL, and meniscus, and it'll take her until roughly September 2024 to fully recover and be able to step back in the ring again. As if that wasn't bad enough, PWInsider has added that Flair likely suffered a strained neck too. Although not confirmed, it's believed Flair strained her neck at the same point she injured her knee while falling from the turnbuckle.
Charlotte Flair's History Of Injuries, Explained
Charlotte Flair suffered a knee injury on a recent SmackDown, but it sadly wasn't the first injury she has had to deal with during her WWE career.Flair goes down in history as one of many wrestlers who managed to work through a severe, incredibly painful injury and finish a match. Something wrestlers have been admired for over the years - Triple H being put in the Walls of Jericho with a torn quad the most famous example - but the flipside of that is pushing through may well make the injury a lot worse and increase the recovery time.
Plans On Hold
Flair has only been back six months following some time off after WrestleMania 39. Shockingly, a six-month period during which she hasn't held a single title. The Queen is a 14-time champion and recently commented on her desire to surpass her dad's record of 16 World Championships. That dream will now be on hold for the bulk of the next year, and with WWE likely planning to put at least one title on her sometime soon, we may well see Flair win gold the second she gets back, something we've seen go down before.
From the outside looking in, Flair's injury, while a blow, isn't necessarily detrimental to whatever WWE has planned heading into its biggest three-month period of the year. While the men's plans for the Royal Rumble and beyond are already falling into place, the women's roads to WrestleMania are wide open. WWE may well have had plans for Flair that aren't apparent to fans though, and will now have to pivot if that was the case.
