Becky Lynch and Ronda Rousey Dealing With Injuries, Timeline For Returns
Emma Terry
Bad news for the women's division in WWE this week as it is being reported that two very important members of the women's roster are out with injuries. Both Ronda Rousey -- who has been limited in what she can do in the ring of late -- and now Becky Lynch are said to be dealing with issues that could affect their involvement in current storylines.
According to The WRKD Wrestling Twitter account, Lynch is dealing with an injury, which is why she won’t be appearing on this Monday's episode of Raw. The kerrmit 125 Reddit account first reported the news and it could make sense considering WWE recently had Liv Morgan and Raquel Rodriguez win the titles fairly quickly from Lynch and Trish Stratus (Lita) as part of a Stratus heel turn. While Stratus' attack on Lynch wasn't vicious, she did land a solid Chick Kick to The Man and that would be enough to sell an injury angle if WWE needed to do so.
Meanwhile, reports were that Ronda Rousey and Shayna Baszler were next in line to challenge for those titles, but Morgan and Rodriguez winning seems to have demonstrated that plans have changed. That could be due to the severity of Rousey's injury, one that Dave Meltzer is reporting includes no apparent return date. It's not clear what Rousey's status is, even though it has been reported she is happy with her current role and teaming with her good friend Baszler.
Long Absences Wouldn't Be Ideal For WWE
If either Lynch or Rousey is out for any significant amount of time, that would not be ideal for WWE, especially if they have a limited window to use Stratus or the company wants to build up its women's tag team division before SummerSlam. It's not expected that Lynch will be out long, so there is good news on that front.
