AEW Revolution Date Reportedly Pushed Back

Writer Sophia Bowman

The AEW Revolution pay-per-view date will be pushed back to March, according to Wrestling Observer Radio's Dave Meltzer.

The plan was to have the event air on February 27. However, according to Meltzer, it could be moved back several days, which is a possible reason for no date being announced when the first match for the show was mentioned.

Per Meltzer, Saturday, March 6, and Sunday, March 7 are being looked at as possible dates (H/T WrestlingNews). Jake Paul's PPV has been cited as the reason for the change, with the show expected to garner a large number of viewers, although nothing has been signed to that end as yet. There's also doubt as to whether it will actually take place given that the possibility is looking slimmer day by day. But AEW wants to avoid February 27 altogether in case it does take place.

Fans are likely looking forward to Revolution, more so as it's set to mark Sting's return to the ring. The wrestling icon will team up with Darby Allin to take on Team Taz's Ricky Starks and Brian Cage in a Street Fight.

Sting, 61, hasn't wrestled in over five years. His last match came against Seth Rollins at Night of Champions in 2015 and it did not go very well for him as the match ended sooner than it should have as the result of an injurious Bucklebomb.

Let's Not Expect A Whole Lot

Sting has a history of neck problems but says he feels great ahead of his return to in-ring action. The match could be a cinematic one likely to be taped ahead of the event to protect the veteran.

It's also likely that Allin will be doing the brunt of the work while Sting will tag in to execute some of the classic moves fans are looking forward to seeing. We really shouldn't expect to see him exert himself all that much.
