Over the years, wrestling fans have witnessed countless wrestlers come and go out of the industry, but only a few will remain in their memories forever. The fans will never forget wrestlers who possess certain unique qualities, and an incredible physique is one of them. The Masterpiece Chris Masters is one such wrestler who wowed the fans with his muscular physique during his time with WWE between 2005 and 2011.

He got the opportunity to have high-profile matches against main-event stars like John Cena. But his career didn't turn out as expected as Masters found his way out of WWE in 2011. With that said, let's take a look at ten things wrestling fans should know about The Masterpiece, Chris Masters.
10 His Acting Career
Apart from pro wrestling shows, Chris Masters has also got the opportunity to appear in a couple of TV series over the years. He first appeared as a guest star in the first season of the musical sitcom Big Time Rush in 2010.
He then appeared in the game show Silent Library in episode three of the show's fourth season alongside fellow WWE stars Dolph Ziggler, JTG, Curt Hawkis, Trent Baretta, and Caylen Croft. He hasn't made an appearance on other television shows ever since and has focused solely on his wrestling career.
9 He's Still An Active In-Ring Competitor
It's been over a decade since Chris Masters competed inside a WWE ring, as he didn't make a return to the company following his exit in 2011. He continued to pursue his wrestling career after his release from WWE and went on to compete for Impact Wrestling and the independent circuit.
His stint with Impact Wrestling ended in 2018, and he's competing mostly in NWA events since making his debut in March 2021. Since then, he's held the NWA National Championship, and his second reign with the title lasted an impressive 221 days.
8 Dropped Out Of High School To Pursue Wrestling
Chris Masters idolized Shawn Michaels and The Ultimate Warrior growing up and decided to follow in their footsteps at a very young age. He dropped out of high school to start his training, and he entered the Ultimate Pro Wrestling training facility at the age of 16.

During an interview with the Hannibal TV YouTube channel in 2020, he stated that he was working on getting his GEDs and claimed that no one's too old to pursue education and offered himself as a role model for his fans.
7 His Plans After Wrestling
Part of the journey is the end, and a wrestler can't expect to keep on competing forever due to the toll his body has taken over the years. Chris Masters knows he also has to hang up his boots at some point in the future, and he revealed what he's planning to do after the end of his in-ring career.
Taking to the Hannibal Tv YouTube channel, Masters stated that he's planning to pursue podcasting and also said that he'd like to do commercial or stunt work in Hollywood when he finally calls it a career in wrestling.
6 WWE Had Several Title Reigns Planned For Him
With the momentum Chris Masters had during his first run with WWE, he could've held several championships at the time. He stated that WWE indeed had plans for him to win the Intercontinental Championship and for him and Carlito to defeat Big Show and Kane for the tag team championships at WrestleMania 22, but it didn't come to fruition due to WWE changing the plans at the last minute.
He also stated that WWE considered him to become the youngest WWE Champion of all time, but sadly that didn't materialize as well.
5 Had To Enter Rehab For Painkiller Addiction
Chris Masters battled an addiction to painkillers during his first run with WWE, which reportedly cost him his shot at winning the Intercontinental Championship. Masters then decided to enter rehab and took several months off to heal from his addictions. He recalled he was much lighter when he got back from rehab and talked about how everyone thought he was on steroids.
Even Triple H made fun of him for losing all that weight in an in-ring promo segment, but Masters went on to gain back all the lost weight and get back to prime physical shape soon.
4 Expressed Desire To Return To WWE
As mentioned earlier, it's been over a decade since Chris Masters last competed for WWE, and the company didn't bring him back for even a small segment during those years. Masters is still going strong as an in-ring performer in the independent circuit and for NWA, and he expressed his desire to make a return to WWE earlier this year.

He even teased an appearance at the 2022 Royal Rumble match, but nothing came to fruition, and the fans are still waiting for Masters to return to WWE.
3 Who Came Up With His Nickname?
One of the most important things which makes a wrestler reach immense popularity among the fans is his nickname, and WWE gave Chris Masters the perfect nickname in "The Masterpiece."
While talking about it in an interview, Masters revealed that it was fellow wrestler Matt Morgan who came up with his nickname. Masters and Morgan worked together during their time in Ohio Valley Wrestling, and when the latter pitched the nickname, Masters took an immediate liking to it and started using it on-screen from that point onwards.
2 Saved His Mother From Burning House
Chris Masters is well-known for his iconic Master Lock challenge segments in which he locks in the challengers with the Full Nelson hold up to the point they pass out. Wrestling fans had a fair idea how strong Chris Masters was inside the ring, but he showed some superhuman strength when he saved his mother from a burning house.
His mother's neighbor reportedly locked himself inside Masters's mother's house and threatened to burn the house down. Despite Masters trying to negotiate with the attacker, the latter went on to burn down the house. Masters sprung into action and ripped a tree with the roots and tossed it through one of the windows and got inside the house with some help from the police and saved his mother.
1 Randy Orton Helped Him Get His Job Back
Chris Masters' first run with WWE ended in November 2007 after the company released him from his contract following his second violation of their wellness policy.
WWE is often serious about wrestlers violating the wellness policy and when they let go of Masters in 2007, the fans thought they had seen the last of The Masterpiece in WWE. However, he made his return to the company in 2009, and according to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Vince McMahon agreed to re-sign Chris Masters to the company only because of Randy Orton's recommendations.
