A toxic relationship is defined as a relationship where your well-being is threatened either physically, mentally, or emotionally. Partners in a toxic relationship can feel misunderstood, unsupported or even attacked. In professional wrestling, the toxic relationship is much more common than the happily ever after scenario. Both inside and outside the ring, relationships can help form compelling stories in professional wrestling.

The toxic ones are almost unforgettable through the annals of professional wrestling history. In some cases, both partners are toxic and seem destined to ruin each other's lives, Yet, in other cases only one member of the relationship is toxic and fans watch to see if the innocent partner is going to go down in flames. In modern wrestling, relationships are commonplace in storyline, while in the golden ages of the sport, relationships were promoted less. Yet, whether you are a fan of today's product, a fan of the Monday Night Wars or even a fan of the golden era of the sport in the 1980s, toxic relationships occurred.
10 Eddie Guerrero And Chyna
In the summer of 2000, the love story of Latino Heat and his Mamacita was written. Guerrero and Chyna would originally be heels as their relationship started. Yet the playfulness of the couple turned them into face competitors quickly. During their relationship, Guerrero and Chyna would battle Val Venis and Trish Stratus at SummerSlam 2000 in an intergender match for the Intercontinental Championship. Chyna would win the match and the title.
Guerrero would win his Mamacita's title in a triple threat match a couple of weeks later involving Kurt Angle. Then in November 2000, the toxicity hit the fan when Chyna found Latino Heat in the shower with two other women on GTV.
9 Stunning Steve Austin And Lady Blossom
Stunning Steve Austin and Lady Blossom are best known for their run in World Championship Wrestling. In WCW, Blossom would help Austin win the Television Title by scrapping the eyes of Beautiful Bobby Eaton. Throughout their WCW run Lady Blossom as a valet, would interfere on Austin's behave, including hiding brass knuckles in her bra cup.
Yet, the most toxicity would have occurred in World Class, before the couple moved to WCW. Lady Blossom was billed as the ex-wife to Chris Adams, who was the trainer of Steve Austin. The obvious bad blood was added when Adams begin bringing his new wife, Toni Adams to ringside, The four performers had a legendary TOXIC feud in World Class Championship Wrestling.
8 Bobby Lashley And Lana
Bobby Lashley would bring Lana out to the entrance ramp during a Universal Championship match between Seth Rollins and Lana's husband, Rusev. Then Lashley started kissing Lana passionately. The Lashley, Lana, Rusev love triangle became very toxic with Lana even faking a pregnancy. The ruse put Rusev in a vulnerable position to be attacked by Lashley.
Rusev and Lana would get a divorce on Monday Night Raw and shortly after Lashley and Lana planned a wedding. During the wedding, Liv Morgan showed up to announce that her and Lana were actually lovers. The toxicity boiled over into a mixed tag match between Lana and Lashley and Liv and Rusev.
7 Beaver Cleavage And Miss Cleavage
In one of the worst proposed storylines in WWE history, former Headbanger Mosh, became Beaver Cleavage. In promos, Beaver was joined by his mother, Mrs. Cleavage. The sexual innuendos between kayfabe son and mother were more than toxic. WWE decided to drop the incest angle, but continue the toxicity between the duo.
Beaver, changed his named to Chaz and Mrs. Cleavage would go by, Marianna. Now as a boyfriend and girlfriend, Marianna goes to ringside with a black eye. The implication is Chaz has beaten his girlfriend. Due to his actions, various wrestlers beat down Chaz, until we find out Marianna made the story up.
6 David Flair And Miss Hancock
In the year 2000, WCW was pretty toxic on all levels of production. Yet, one storyline that truly personifies toxicity is David Flair and Miss Hancock. Miss Hancock sets her eyes on David, and steals him from his current on-screen girlfriend, Daffney. This would lead to a feud between the risqué Miss Hancock and deranged Daffney.
As the story progressed, Miss Hancock announced she was pregnant after being kicked in the stomach during a mud wrestling match against Major Gunns (WCW 2000 = Toxicity). Fans then out that David is not the father though. In classic dying days of WCW the storyline was dropped before a father was revealed. It might be for the better, as both Ric Flair and booker, Vince Russo were rumored to be the proposed storyline father.
5 Bully Ray And Brooke Hogan
At the end of 2012, a storyline secret relationship between Bully Ray and Brooke Hogan was revealed on Impact Wrestling. Brooke's father, Hulk Hogan would suspend Bully Ray for having relations with his daughter. At the time, the Aces & Eights faction were running wild all over Impact.

The heel faction even attempted to kidnap Brooke. Bully Ray would save the damsel in distress and eventually propose to her. Brooke accepted against her father's wishes and a wedding was planned. During the wedding, Tazz, who was a groomsman, revealed he was part of the faction and attacked Hulk and Bully Ray. As Bully Ray was gaining Hulk's trust, he was named number one contender to the world title. Bully Ray would win the title, turn on Hulk and declare himself president of Aces & Eights. This betrayal led to Brooke seeking a divorce.
4 Jamie Noble And Nidia
The Summer of 2002 produced the trailer park trash gimmick of Jamie Noble and Nidia. The couple would go on to become fan favorites after an inheritance made them rich. Nidia would get hit with Tajiri's evil black mist, leading her to being blind. Noble would then use his blind girlfriend as a human shield and lie to her about it.
The toxicity of this couple would lead to an entertaining feud once the truth came out. Nidia and Noble would have a blindfold match at No Way Out 2004. Noble would cheat to win the boyfriend versus girlfriend match.
3 Edge And Lita
In 2005, the real life toxicity of Edge and Lita would be paired together for the camera. Matt Hardy and Lita were in a relationship until Hardy was injured and went home to heal. During his time at home, his girlfriend Lita, and real life friend Edge, began a relationship of toxic proportions.
WWE capitalized on this real life event and paired Edge and Hardy in a bloody feud. The feud would end when Edge beat Hardy in a loser leaves Raw match. This allowed Edge and Lita to focus on their World title aspirations. Edge would win the World Title from John Cena at New Year's Revolution in January 2006. To celebrate their win, Edge declared that he and Lita would have a "live sex celebration" on Monday Night Raw.
2 Vince McMahon And Trish Stratus
In 2001, the chairman of the board, Vince McMahon would start a relationship with the bodacious Trish Stratus. During this time, Vince's wife, Linda, was kayfabe institutionalized. Vince's daughter, Stephanie, would start a feud with Trish over the fornication. At the height of the feud, Stephanie and William Regal challenged Vince and his girlfriend to a match.

During the match, Vince would turn on Trish, calling her a play thing that he had grown tired of. Then on a Monday Night Raw, Vince would force Trish to strip down to her underwear and bark like a dog in one of the most disgusting storylines in WWE history. Trish would get her revenge by slapping Vince at WrestleMania and turning face.
1 Dawn Marie and Al Wilson
During Dawn Marie's 2002 feud with Torrie Wilson, she would begin an onscreen romance with Al Wilson, Torrie's father. Shortly after Al and Dawn Marie would get engaged. Dawn Marie then told Torrie that she would break off the engagement, if Torrie would come to her hotel room. While in the hotel room, Dawn would attempt to seduce Torrie (possibly successfully). Yet, Al and Dawn Marie would still get married.
On the honeymoon Al Wilson would kayfabe die of a heart attack after rigorous sexual relations. Then in the most toxic conclusion of all time, Torrie and Dawn Marie would wrestle in a "Step Mother versus Step Daughter" match at Royal Rumble 2003.
