WWE Announces That Johnny Gargano Has Suffered A Grade 2 AC Sprain

Writer Sophia Bowman

It appears Johnny Gargano is going to miss some time for WWE. On Monday night, the announce crew revealed that Gargano had suffered a Grade 2 AC sprain and during a backstage interview, his wife, Candice LeRae said that their top focus right now was getting Gargano back to 100%. WWE shared the news during the broadcast, although they didn't specify when he was injured and what caused the issue. Gargano took to social media during the broadcast to elaborate on the injury and wrote, "I injured my shoulder at a live event in Toronto (ironic?), and the medical team is going to protect me from myself for a bit.. but you better believe I'm going to do EVERYTHING I can to get back in that ring so I can be that guy you all know I can be. Just let me in that Rumble!" The suggestion here is that he believes he'll be ready in a couple of weeks, even though it's not clear if WWE is going to medically clear him to compete in the 30-Man match.

LeRae said Gargano was scheduled to be part of the tag team turmoil that took place on Monday night as the main event. The assumption was that he would team with Dexter Lumis, but the match went on without the duo, and instead included Judgment Day, The O.C, Cedric Alexander and Shelton Benjamin, Alpha Academy, and the Street Profits.

Wishing Gargano A Speedy Recovery

The good news is that Gargano may still be able to appear on Raw leading up to the Royal Rumble. He's been as much a mouthpiece for Lumis as he has a wrestler over the past month and if he's up to it, WWE can likely find a good use for him as Lumis tries to secure more wins leading up to the pay-per-view.

We wish Gargano a speedy recovery and hope he's ready in a couple of weeks for the Rumble.
