WWE Announces Gunther vs. Sheamus II In Two Weeks
Owen Barnes
The first match was so nice, WWE is going to do it twice. During Friday's episode of SmackDown, WWE confirmed that a rematch for the Intercontinental Championship will take place in two weeks between Gunther (champion) and Sheamus (challenger). Not only did the company announce the match, but Gunther was involved in the main event on Friday, causing a distraction that would allow The Usos to retain their WWE Tag Team Championships versus The Brawling Brutes.
Sheamus shared the tweet when it was announced and this is going to be a banger of a match if the first one was any indication of what to expect. A physical war between these two had fans chanting "this is awesome" but leaving both men bruised and tired. Sheamus got a standing ovation from the crowd, but he wasn't able to capture the title. He'll try to make up for that when SmackDown rolls around on October 7th.
WWE is calling this episode the season premiere for SmackDown which means there are likely even more huge matches to be announced. WWE typically stacks these shows and Raw's season premiere on October 10th includes the 25-year anniversary of DX.

Can Sheamus Get It Done?
As awesome as this match is going to be, WWE has a bit of a dilemma on its hands. Do they take the title off of Gunther so that Sheamus doesn't lose two big matches in a row and captures a title he's never held in WWE? Or, does WWE continue the monster push for Gunther, cementing him as one of the more dominant Intercontinental Champions in years? This is more of a win/win since both outcomes will have their supporters, but it's a tough decision.
Perhaps this ends in a no contest and allows WWE to put together Sheamus vs. Gunther III. It would be hard to find too many fans disappointed in the prospect of that happening.
