A blindfolded couple on Married At First Sight

With the conclusion of Married at First Sight season 14 on the horizon, here's an update on how the four MAFS season 9 couples are doing in 2022. Since 2014, relationship experts have attempted to create successful marriages by matching couples through a series of assessments and questionnaires. These couples then meet for the first time as they're saying "I do" at the altar.

While MAFS has produced some successful marriages over its 14 seasons, over 50% have sadly ended in divorce. In fact, only a handful of unions still stand today. Season 9 premiered in 2019, and featured four pairs of newlyweds from Charlotte, North Carolina. Between dramatic arguments, moments of laughter, and deeply personal discussions, the couples got to know one another, and viewers became familiar with the cast members, as individuals and duos.

Like its predecessors, MAFS season 14 has had plenty of ups and downs. The second part of the Boston season's reunion is set to air on May 25. During that episode, fans will find out the final fates of matched couples Jasmina Outar and Michael Morency, Katina Goode and Olajuwon Dickerson, Lindsey Georgoulis and Mark Maher, and Steve Moy and Noi Phommasa. They'll also learn about the already-divorced Alyssa and Chris. Although season 14 has gotten its fair share of criticisms, season 9 has been remembered as one of the best installments. Here's information about the four season 9 couples' marital statuses today.

Iris Cadwell & Keith Manley: Divorced

Keith and Iris in Married at First Sight

Iris and Keith had several issues in their marriage, with one of the biggest being their lack of compatibility. Iris was a virgin who was reluctant to be intimate with Keith, and while Keith had no problem being patient and understanding with his new wife, he felt frustrated with Iris' overall immaturity. On Decision Day, Iris wanted to remain married, but Keith admitted that he wanted a divorce. During the season 9 reunion, Iris wanted to work things out, but Keith was not interested in reconciling. As of 2022, Iris and Keith remain cordially divorced. Based on Iris and Keith's respective Instagram's, both MAFS alumni are still single as well.

Elizabeth Bice & Jamie Thompson: Married

Elizabeth and Jamie were certainly considered an odd match by MAFS fans, and many thought that they would surely divorce on Decision Day. Between Elizabeth's brazen personality and Jamie's sharp tongue, the couple frequently found themselves arguing over the little things. Surprisingly, Elizabeth and Jamie agreed to stay married at the end of season 9. The two MAFS reality alums have remained together ever since. Elizabeth and Jamie moved from North Carolina to California in 2020, and starred on the spin-off Married at First Sight: Couples Cam the same year.

Deonna McNeill & Gregory Okotie: Married

Greg and Deonna Married at First Sight

Unlike Elizabeth and Jamie, Deonna and Gregory were considered a successful match by MAFS viewers, and became the fan favorites of season 9. While Deonna was a shy and conservative operations manager, Gregory was a confident 32-year-old who owned a math tutoring center. Deonna and Gregory's compatibility arose from their differences, and their marriage brought out the best in both of them. Naturally, Deonna and Gregory said "Yes" on Decision Day, and have been happily married ever since. After announcing their first pregnancy in 2020, Deonna gave birth to son Declan in February 2021.

Amber Bowles & Matthew Gwynne: Divorced

Amber and Matt in Married at First Sight

Out of the four MAFS season 9 couples, Amber and Matthew easily went down in history as the worst. While viewers were sympathetic about Amber's tough past and abandonment issues, Matthew exacerbated his new wife's concerns by treating her feelings and opinions with nonchalance. Matt was even accused of infidelity, which he didn't exactly deny. Amber and Matthew separated on Decision Day, to fans' delight, and have no plans to get back together. Matthew and Amber both appear to be single in 2022, and while Matthew's Instagram is private, Amber has been working hard at building a brand.
