My 600-lb Life star Destinee LaShaee broke ground as the first transgender person to appear on the show, but they're remembered for other reasons.
My 600-lb Life season 7's Destinee LaShaee broke ground in 2019, when they appeared on the show as its first transgender star. When Destinee began their journey, at 27 years old and 668.5 pounds, they sought help from Dr. Younan Nowzaradan, who is better known as Dr. Now. They eventually qualified for weight loss surgery. Destinee was outspoken about living with mental health issues. They did not feel completely accepted when they came out as gay and, later, transgender. Destinee even admitted to trying to take their own life. Their brother Anthony died in Destinee's arms, due to an aneurysm caused by a blood clot following a minor surgery.
Destinee, who was one of My 600-lb Life's Dr. Younan Nazaradan's many patients, entered a mental facility for a couple of weeks, until the doctors were confident that Destinee was not going to self-harm again. However, they admitted that they never got over that pain. Destinee was open about living with depression after that heartbreaking incident. They attended therapy at Dr. Now's suggestion, and Dr. Now approved them for a gastric sleeve procedure. At the end of their My 600-lb Life episode, Destinee had lost 229 pounds, and weighed 440 pounds. They later continued to lose weight.

My 600-Lb Life's Destinee LaShaee Passed Away In February 2022
Tragically, Destinee died in February 2022, at the age of 30. In a Facebook post, their brother Wayne Compton shared the awful news. He wrote, "No no no I’m sorry bro, I accept you for who you are, I accept every flaw that come with you, I’m sorry you felt alone, I’m sorry you felt you had nobody else to turn too, I’m sorry you felt you had no other option Destiny wouldn’t of wanted this, lord why keep taking my siblings away, how much can I take." Destiny was another of Destinee and Wayne's siblings, who had also passed away. No official cause of death was given for Destinee. However, Wayne's statement that Destinee felt they had no other option indicates that mental health issues may have played a role.
