The Young Bucks Hint At Kevin Owens Possibly Coming To AEW

Writer Liam Parker

Following a report regarding Kevin Owens' contract status, the wrestling world is already speculating on his potential exit as well as a move to AEW.

Back in 2018, Owens revealed that he had signed a five-year contract with the WWE. However, it was reported on Tuesday night that his contract was restructured, and it's now set to expire this upcoming January. If Owens doesn't re-sign with the company, one can only assume he'll become #AllElite.

As pointed out by WrestlingNews.co, Owens dropped an interesting tweet (which he later deleted) that seemed to tease a future move to AEW.

Owens has changed the bio location on his Twitter page to "Almost there." The Young Bucks briefly changed theirs to "There", but they have since changed it. WrestlingNews.co noticed it before The Young Bucks switched up the bio location again:

For what it's worth, Owens hasn't openly expressed dissatisfaction with WWE, nor has he publicly requested his release unlike previous talents with the company. But despite his strong in-ring skill set and popularity among the fans, Owens has seen very little time in the main event spotlight since joining the main roster six years ago.

That's why it wouldn't be surprising if he decided to join AEW, a promotion that has a strong track record of maximizing the talents of former WWE stars. If this is what Owens wants, he wouldn't be forced under a 90-day non-compete clause unless WWE outright releases him before the contract expires.

Needless to say, Owens' contract situation is an interesting storyline that the wrestling world will watch closely. The contract of his close friend, Sami Zayn, is supposedly nearing its conclusion as well.

Kevin Owens Leaving Would Be A Giant Loss For WWE

There's no replacing a talent like Owens on the main event roster. Therefore, it's imperative that WWE finds a way to secure his services long-term. AEW has become a grade-A destination for disgruntled and released WWE talents who needed a fresh start. But will WWE willingly let him leave, seeing how many talents they've released over the past year? If they do, it'll be a colossal mistake. Company officials really need to do their best in convincing Owens to stay.
