Steve Austin Skipping WrestleMania 34 For WrestleCon?

Writer Isabella Bartlett

The last time we saw Stone Cold Steve Austin on WWE programming he was handing out stunners like it was 1998. At Raw's 25th Anniversary, Shane McMahon got a stunner, then Vince got a stunner and then Shane got a second for good measure. It was a case of nostalgia for the WWE Universe but fans who are hoping that The Rattlesnake shows up at WrestleMania 34 may be disappointed.

Austin will be in New Orleans for WrestleMania weekend, that much is confirmed, but there's been no word from WWE that Stone Cold will show up at The Show of Shows. Where Austin will definitely be is at WrestleCon on April 8 which will be held at the Sheraton Hotel in New Orleans.

As WrestleCon's twitter account states, Austin will be signing autographs hours before WrestleMania 34 begins, so Austin could conceivably appear at both events. After all, the hotel is just one mile away from the Superdome so Stone Cold could pose for pictures and sign autographs in the afternoon before delivering stunners and drinking beer at night.

Austin's final WWE match came at WrestleMania XIX but he's appeared in various capacities at the event since then. At WrestleMania XXX he appeared in the opening segment with The Rock and Hulk Hogan while two years later he handed out stunners to the League of Nations.

Austin will be one of a number of former WWE Superstars on hand for WrestleCon. Others scheduled to appear are Ric Flair, Shawn Michaels, Bret Hart and Trish Stratus. Others on the card include Kenny Omega, The Young Bucks and even John Cena Sr. It seems as the best wrestling talent of the past and the present will be in New Orleans, one way or another, and fans will have options as to who they want to see.
