Writer Michael Hansen

Highlights

  • Seth Rollins may have suffered a legitimate knee injury during Monday Night Raw's main event against Jinder Mahal.
  • Rollins was seen walking on his own, but with a noticeable limp, suggesting that it wasn't just part of the storyline.
  • The severity of the injury is yet to be determined, but if serious, it could have major implications for upcoming events like the Royal Rumble and WrestleMania.

According to Wade Keller of PW Torch, it appears WWE World Champion Seth Rollins suffered a legitimate injury during Monday Night Raw's main event against Jinder Mahal. In what some thought was Rollins selling a knee issue for storyline purposes, time will tell how serious the injury actually is as Rollins was helped to the back.

The report notes that multiple backstage sources at Raw reported Rollins received assistance backstage and was seen eventually putting weight on his injured leg. Despite walking on his own, he displayed a noticeable limp. It appeared obvious this wasn't just Rollins working the match.

Not sure Rollins is going to agree with this.

Rollins did take the time to cut a promo to the live crowd after Raw went off the air, and he seemed to be in good spirits, even though he was favoring his knee. Still, it seemed clear something was wrong when he got the official's attention as the show was going off the air, hinting he might have an issue standing up. He eventually did.

The severity of the injury will be assessed through further evaluation. The exact moment of the injury remains unclear, but Rollins started favoring his leg after a dive to ringside. Despite the setback, he pressed on, executing additional moves, including a Pedigree and a Stomp to conclude the match. Rollins' concern was evident as Raw concluded, and he stood on one leg while receiving the WWE World Heavyweight Title belt from the referee. While continuing to wrestle may have exacerbated the injury, the fact that Rollins felt capable of continuing after the initial setback is a positive sign.

This Would Be Terrible Timing If Serious

Should this be something more than a little soreness, this would be absolutely awful timing for Rollins to come down with a major injury. The Royal Rumble is right around the corner and WrestleMania is coming in short order. WWE is teasing a program with CM Punk, which would be a huge marquee bout for the biggest show of the year. While it's too early to speculate that the match would be in jeopardy, that would be among the worst-case scenarios.

Fans are hoping this isn't anything big. It might just be best to have him take some time off. He's pegged himself a fighting champion, but there is such a thing as pushing too hard.
