Resource Contention (ResourceContention) - BMC PATROL for Microsoft Windows Servers 5.0
Michael Hansen
Monitors the server for resource contention and enters an alarm state when it detects that multiple threads are contending for a shared resource and the resource cannot respond adequately.
Note
The Resource Contention attribute in BMC ProactiveNet Performance Management is referred as the ResourceContention parameter in BMC PATROL.
This parameter enters into an alarm state under the following conditions:
- The NT_CPU_Total\CPUprcrPrivTimePercent parameter is greater than or equal to the NT_CPU_Total\CPUprcrUserTimePercent parameter.
- The NT_CPU_Total\CPUprcrProcessorTimePercent parameter is greater than the value set at the /PSX_P4WinSrvs/PWK_PKMforMSWinOS_config/HealthMonitoring/ProcessorContentionThreshold pconfig variable.
If this pconfig variable is not present, then the default value is assumed as 30.
This parameter is not active if the _TOTAL instance of the NT_CPU application is excluded from monitoring.
