Resident Alien could be the most weirdly wonderful sci-fi TV show of 2021, so who are the cast and characters? The highly-anticipated Syfy show is based on the eponymous comic series by Peter Hogan and Steve Parkhouse, which was published by Dark Horse between 2012 and 2018. The central storyline follows an extra-terrestrial pilot who assumes a new identity on Earth and awkwardly tries to assimilate.
Set in Patience, Colorado, Resident Alien revolves around a murder mystery in a small community. The local authorities are highly suspicious of Dr. Harry Vanderspeigle, who is indeed an alien but may not necessarily be a killer. As Sheriff Mike Thompson and Deputy Liz Baker investigate a local man's death, Dr. Harry tries to cover up the fact that he's actually Captain Hah Re, which allows for some dry humor and black comedy.
Given that Resident Alien has a Fargo-like vibe, it makes sense that SyFy enlisted one of the cast members from the popular FX series. Alan Tudyk As Captain Hah Re/Dr. Harry Vanderspeigle
Alan Tudyk stars as Captain Hah Re, an alien biologist who crashes in the United States and forms a new life as Dr. Harry Vanderspeigle.
Tudyk has long been a popular character actor in mainstream TV and feature film comedies. Tudyk portrayed Hoban "Wash" Washburne in Firefly, and later appeared as Pastor Veal in Arrested Development and Gary in Santa Clarita Diet. In recent years, Tudyk voiced ClayFace in Harley Quinn and Krei in Big Hero 6: The Series. He's also well known for voicing K-2SO in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.
Corey Reynolds As Sheriff Mike Thompson
Corey Reynolds co-stars as Sheriff Mike Thompson, a Patience lawman who loves pugs and investigates the alien mystery.
Reynolds portrayed Waylin in The Terminal and David Gabriel in The Closer. He also appeared as Cliff Mosley in All American season 2.
Elizabeth Bowen As Deputy Sheriff Liv Baker
Elizabeth Bowen portrays Deputy Sheriff Liv Baker, a colleague of Sheriff Mike Thompson who helps with the alien investigation.
Bowen appeared as Trooper Sue Lutz in Fargo season 2 and Peggy in No Tomorrow. She recently portrayed Fran Booth in Upload and Nancy in Woke.
