Dr. Philip L. Johnson - Professor and Chairman of Radiology at the University of Kansas Medical Center. He is board certified in Diagnostic Radiology and subspecialty certified in Vascular and Interventional Radiology. Dr. Johnson has 20 years of experience in the field of interventional radiology. Prior to becoming the Chair of Radiology, he served as the Director of Interventional Radiology and the Director of the Interventional Radiology Fellowship.Dr. Johnson received his medical degree from the University of Kansas School of Medicine. He completed radiology residency and was Chief Resident at Baptist Medical Center in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. After residency he completed a fellowship in Neuroradiology at the University of Wisconsin. He completed additional fellowships in Interventional Radiology and Neurointerventional Radiology at the University of Kansas Medical Center.He specializes in minimally invasive image guided procedures. His clinical experience includes all aspects of basic and advanced interventional radiology procedures. These procedures include arterial and venous angioplasty and stent placement, aortic stent graft placement, thrombolysis, embolization, chemoembolization, radioembolization, microwave ablation therapy for cancer,mediport and dialysis access, hepatic/biliary and urologic interventional procedures, abscess drainages and percutaneous biopsies. Dr. Johnson has special expertise and interest in the management of liver disease, biliary disease, portal hypertension, hepatic malignancy.
