Nikki Bella Turning On Brie & 7 Other Dumb Family Moments In WWE
James Rogers
Throughout WWE history, the company has tapped into real-life family matters when they have had the chance in a bid to create a unique storyline. Sometimes it works perfectly, creating iconic moments between wrestlers, while there are plenty of examples of it falling flat and ending up being very awkward.

When family storylines go wrong, they can be incredibly bad. With fans having more investment in things because they know there is a heightened sense of realism, there can be moments where things just do not work. This has led to some dumb moments over the years which the WWE creative team would likely want to forget.
8 Nikki Bella Turns On Brie
This was one of the dumbest storylines WWE has ever done, mainly because everybody knows how legitimately close the sisters are. However, if WWE had created a stronger storyline it could have worked. Instead, Nikki randomly turned on her sister when she was feuding with Stephanie McMahon, which didn't make sense at the time.

WWE then made things worse with the promo exchanges they had. With Nikki claiming she wished her sister died in the womb, things became far too unrealistic. The overacting from both of them was not good and that made this a dumb angle overall.
7 Matt Hardy Turns On Jeff
Another storyline that had a sibling turn was with The Hardy Boyz. However, this suffered the same fate as WWE went way too over the top. While brothers can fallout, this went just as extreme as the Bella Twins by pushing for death and wishing they didn't exist.
Matt legitimately tried to kill his brother several times in this storyline, such as when he tampered with Jeff's fireworks. While their in-ring work was a lot of fun to watch, the company had already ruined things with the dumb manner in which they started feuding.
6 Custody Of Dominik
This storyline has ended up becoming quite an iconic one, but that doesn't mean it wasn't dumb. Things worked because Rey Mysterio and Eddie Guerrero are so talented, but the actual storyline itself was horrendous and hard to believe.
Eddie claiming he was Dominik's father was about as over the top as it would get in WWE and it didn't ever feel believable. The in-ring work was good and their performances were as well, but it was a dumb storyline.
5 Linda's Coma
Linda McMahon was always an entertaining talent when she was involved in wrestling, even if it wasn't that often. However, the storyline when she was in a coma and was then wheeled around not talking or showing any emotion was ridiculous.

Having Vince McMahon cheat in front of her was all far too much. While the payoff of Linda eventually getting up did get a huge reaction, this was a storyline that just never felt right and it shouldn't have been played out on television.
4 DDP The Stalker
DDP is an amazing wrestler who has tons of charisma. He works perfectly as a babyface, yet for some reason, WWE brought him in as a heel with the stalker gimmick. This was a rivalry that brought in the family as he was stalking The Undertaker's wife at the time.
It was a very dumb angle that didn't help anybody get over and pretty much ruined DDP in WWE from the start. The entire situation was stupid as it never made sense as to why he would do that, especially since fans already knew who DDP was.
3 Dawn Marie & Al Wilson
The romantic storyline between Dawn Marie and Al Wilson is another that fans still talk about to this day. However, a big reason for that is down to how dumb it was, with this never being believable while it was at times very awkward to watch.
Dawn looking to marry Al Wilson was a strange storyline that nobody wanted or expected. Seeing her brawl with Torrie Wilson in the funeral parlor was also an odd angle that was always dumb to watch throughout.
2 Big Show's Rides His Father's Coffin
The storyline between Big Show and The Big Boss Man wasn't all about family, but the segment that brought it in was ridiculous. The angle took place with Big Show attending his father's funeral and resulted in The Big Bossman ruining the entire thing.

He drove off with the coffin, which led to Big Show jumping onto it and holding on for dear life. It was a strange situation that didn't quite work, and that is something that never felt natural at all, with this just being a dumb moment.
1 Who Is The Father?
WWE never got the most out of Mike and Maria Kanellis when they were brought into the company. However, one of the times they did get used was when Maria became pregnant with her second child. For some reason, the company pushed an angle where she questioned that Mike wasn't the father.
She would tease that it could be other members of the roster and that was a ridiculous storyline. Everybody knew that it was Mike's due to the fact they are in a genuine relationship, and that led to nobody buying into this dumb storyline.
