Miss Elizabeth's Body Transformation Over The Years, Told In Photos

Writer James Rogers

Wrestling managers or valets were already a trend when pro wrestling went mainstream. The managers in the WWE have been a support system for the wrestlers, with some of them also leading the path of betrayal as per the storyline. The Golden and New Generation Eras consisted mostly of male managers, except for a few women. Notable among these were Miss Elizabeth and Sensational Sherri.

While Sensational Sherri wrestled occasionally, Miss Elizabeth was a pure manager. Miss Elizabeth's involvement in the storylines of her then-husband Randy Savage pulled at the heartstrings of many fans back then. The All-American Girl was beautiful, had a charming smile, and exuded a captivating aura. Despite an auspicious start, a lot had changed for her both in terms of career, and her mental and physical state.

10 Entry into Wrestling World

In 1982, Miss Elizabeth worked at a gym in Lexington, where she met her future husband, Randy Savage. The two dated for two years and got married in December 1984. Savage and his brother Lanny wrestled around the territories but weren't getting the push they deserved.

This prompted their father, Angelo Poffo to start a promotion of their own, which was known as International Championship Wrestling (ICW). Elizabeth, being Savage's wife at the time, got a job as an announcer at her father-in-law's promotion. A young Elizabeth immediately showed the skills that would make her one-half of one of the most beloved acts in WWE history.

9 WWE Debut

On July 6th, 1985, Savage made his WWE debut on an edition of Championship Wrestling, where he defeated local wrestler Aldo Marino. Bobby "The Brian" Heenan, Jimmy Hart, Mr. Fuji, Johnny Valiant, and Freddie Blassie, all offered to be Savage's managers over the next few weeks, but Savage politely refused their offers.

Instead, he introduced Miss Elizabeth as his manager as she walked into the arena wearing a glittering violet gown and flashing a lovely grin. She looked stunning in her dazzling earrings, with Bruno Sammartino suggesting she looked like a movie star.

8 Managing Randy Savage and First Storyline

Miss Elizabeth's first major storyline was during Randy Savage's feud with George "The Animal" Steele in 1986. At the moment, Steele had a genuine crush on Elizabeth, tinged with a sweet innocence. This wasn't approved by Savage, but Elizabeth was touched by Steele's behavior and could tell that there were no ulterior motives at play.

The storyline was one of the most popular ones of the 1980s, and all three of them played their roles very well. Elizabeth was undoubtedly the most elegant lady in the business at the time, so it's understandable that Steele fell in love with her.

7 Valet for Mega Powers

It was Randy Savage's feud with Honky Tonk Man that got him cheers and led to him being one of the top babyfaces in the company. Thereafter, the formation of Mega Powers saw Miss Elizabeth manage her husband as well as Hulk Hogan. Savage's first WWE Championship win at WrestleMania 4 saw him celebrating with Hogan and his wife.

On Hogan's suggestion, Savage carried Elizabeth on his shoulder with the WWE Championship in her hand, and it remains one of the most iconic photos in WWE history. Elizabeth looked slightly different from previous years, as her cheeks filled out, highlighting her timeless beauty.

6 Joining Forces with Dusty Rhodes

After losing to Hulk Hogan at WrestleMania 5, Randy Savage fired Elizabeth as his manager and replaced her with Sensational Sherri. Elizabeth would feud with Savage and join his rivals. During one of her sporadic appearances in 1989, she accompanied Hulk Hogan and Brutus Beefcake during their SummerSlam match against Savage and Zeus.

This was the first time Miss Elizabeth became physical when she made Sherri stumble and fall as she was interfering in the match, thereby helping her team win at the PPV. Elizabeth would later join forces with Dusty Rhodes and Sapphire in 1990. She played a vital part in their win at WrestleMania 6 against Sherri Martel and Savage in the WWE's first-ever mixed tag team match. There wasn't any change in her appearance, but she experienced vital character development during this time.

5 Departure from WWE

Elizabeth looked exhausted and emotional as if she knew it would be her final appearance. With a much-needed break, she announced her retirement from wrestling that year. Savage and Elizabeth divorced in August 1992.

4 WCW Debut

After four years away from the spotlight, Miss Elizabeth came out of retirement and debuted in WCW in January 1996. Elizabeth, who always looked gorgeous during her WWE run, had now changed up her look. She ditched her previous hairstyle and extravagant gowns for plain-colored, simple gowns and a bob-cut hairstyle.

This was arguably the first time that fans began to notice that Elizabeth had aged somewhat. She reunited with the Mega Powers and managed them for three weeks before betraying Savage and costing him his match against Flair at WCW SuperBrawl 6. Elizabeth, along with Woman managed the Four Horsemen for eight months before joining the nWo.

3 Reunion with Randy Savage

After joining the nWo in September 1996, Elizabeth developed feelings for her ex-husband, Randy Savage. This, of course, was kayfabe, as they had gotten over each other way back. Savage and Elizabeth would team up and feud with DDP and Kimberly Page for most of 1997. This was the first time in five years that fans saw Elizabeth and Savage together again.

Unlike her persona in the WWE, which was sweet and poised, Elizabeth was a heel during most of her time in the WCW. She would bully Kimberly Page and also become physical with her at the 1997 Halloween Havoc PPV, thereby strengthening her heel turn. In 1998, Elizabeth parted ways with Savage after she joined nWo Hollywood. Savage, on the other hand, was a part of nWo Wolfpac and made it clear that he didn't need Elizabeth by his side.

2 Association with Lex Luger

Miss Elizabeth went on a short break in 1999 and resumed her management services in September. This time it wasn't the nWo, of which she was a part before her break. It was Lex Luger, with whom she was paired at the time.

At this point, Luger had begun abusing painkillers, opioids, and alcohol, with Elizabeth also, unfortunately, sharing this drug-dependent lifestyle, and that was unfortunately visible in her appearance.

1 Final WCW appearance

While Miss Elizabeth would occasionally get physical in WWE, she never competed in a match. But in WCW Elizabeth fought her first singles against Daffney on May 8, 2000. The above picture shows Elizabeth's first bout and on the right, her last appearance for the company on May 29, 2000.

Elizabeth's final segment saw her being a babyface and getting confronted by Kimberly Page. Elizabeth can be seen in fancy pants and a black top. She tragically passed away on May 1, 2003, at a house shared by her and Luger. But Miss Elizabeth's elegance, charm, and kindness will forever live in the hearts of her fans. She will always be remembered as the "First Lady of Wrestling".
