Lily James Nails the Big-Pants Trend in a Timelessly Chic Look

Writer Michael Hansen

Lily James showed off her off-duty style on a casual outing in New York City this week.

The Pam & Tommy star cut a stylish figure while embracing this season’s big-pants trend, which she honored via a pair of wide-leg high-waisted jeans in a dark blue wash. She paired the pants with a plain black tank top with a scoop neckline. To finish off the look, she opted for Adidas Samba sneakers in cornflower blue, black sunglasses, tiny chunky gold hoop earrings, and layers of delicate gold pendant necklaces.

James recently made a star-turning appearance at the 2023 Met Gala, where she walked the famed carpeted steps of the Metropolitan Museum of Art in a voluminous black leather ball gown by Tamara Ralph. The standout piece featured intricate embroidery on the drop waist, a matching black rosette adorning the center of the bust, and a large billowing train. She upped the ante with her accessories, wearing glittering diamond De Beers jewelry and black leather-and-mesh fingerless gloves.

Prior to the Met Gala, James showed out at the 2023 Golden Globe Awards ceremony. For the occasion, the actor looked magnificent in a bright red strapless gown by Versace. The dress featured a sleek column skirt layered underneath a second skirt with ruffled and draped attachments and a dramatically long train. The piece also featured geometric cutouts at the waist, which were broken up by two crisscrossing straps at the front. She elevated the look with a diamond choker necklace and diamond drop earrings.
