Latest On Bray Wyatt Possibly Debuting In AEW Soon

Writer Emma Terry

It's been almost two months since Bray Wyatt was unexpectedly released from his WWE contract, but it may not be long until the Universal Champion is back on television.

WWE announced back on July 31 that they had released Wyatt from his contract. Standard WWE deals carry 90-day non-compete clauses, meaning Wyatt wouldn't be able to wrestle elsewhere until late October at the earliest.

Speculation has ramped up that we could see Wyatt (real name Windham Rotunda) debut for AEW very soon, perhaps as early as next week's episode of Dynamite in Rochester, New York. This is the hometown of the late Brodie Lee, who was close friends with Wyatt in real life. The two worked together as members of The Wyatt Family in WWE.

WrestlingNews.co explained that Wyatt "has the option to waive" his 90-day non-compete clause and thus "and not take the money from WWE." If he goes this route, Wyatt could indeed debut for another promotion (presumably AEW) very soon.

It was previously reported that Impact Wrestling would also make a push for Wyatt. It's widely believed that his former Wyatt Family ally, Braun Strowman, will soon land there. Strowman was released on June 2, so his 90-day non-compete clause would have expired earlier this month.

Wyatt had been kept off of WWE programming for nearly four months prior to his release. His final appearance for the company took place on the Apr. 12 episode of Monday Night Raw, where he announced he was seeking a fresh start in a "Firefly Fun House" segment.

Wyatt Would Be A Massive Gain For AEW

Wyatt was somehow underused by WWE over and over again. He has all the makings to be a perennial main event star, and if AEW signs him, you can bet that they'll get the most out of him. WWE's decision to release Wyatt was greatly baffling across the wrestling world, but it may be a blessing in disguise for Wyatt, who will do great things wherever he winds up next.
