Jennifer Lopez Is Worth Way More Than You'd Think

Writer Michael Hansen

The title of Jennifer Lopez's 2001 hit song was "Love Don't Cost a Thing," but as the singer and movie star has learned over the course of multiple marriages, that's not exactly true in real life. She paid her first husband, personal trainer Ojani Noa, a settlement fee of $50,000 after their split in 1998, according to the Daily Mail. But as her fame grew, so did the cost of a breakup for Lopez.

In 2002, after less than a year of marriage, she divorced her former backup dancer and choreographer, Cris Judd. As reported by BET, this split cost her a whole lot: $14 million, to be exact. Though the partnership was brief and the settlement steep, Lopez has taken it all in stride. In a 2019 YouTube video for her "It's My Party" tour, she said, "I've been married three times. And once was nine months, and once was 11 months. So I don't really count those."

Lopez's third marriage, to singer Marc Anthony, lasted seven years, but after the couple split in 2011, there were no financial settlements awarded to either partner. The Los Angeles Times reported in 2014 that neither Lopez nor Anthony owed the other any spousal or child support (for their twins, Max and Emme). In 2022, OK! noted that the "unconditionally" in love Lopez and Ben Affleck had opted against signing a prenuptial agreement ahead of their August wedding of that year.
