ICM Partners has hired another top literary agent, The Hollywood Reporter has learned. Anna Stein, who launched and heads the New York office of London-based Aitken Alexander Associates, is joining the agency on Dec. 1.

Stein’s literary fiction and narrative non-fiction clients include National Book Award finalist Ben Lerner, New York Times best-selling novelist Maria Semple (Where’d You Go, Bernadette) and Hanya Yanagihara, whose latest novel, A Little Life, is currently a National Book Award finalist and short-listed for The Man Booker Prize.

“As her clients’ success with readers and literary awards demonstrates, Anna is a tastemaker and a terrific advocate for authors,” said ICM partner Sloan Harris, who co-heads the publications department with Esther Newberg.

ICM’s publishing department is one of the agency’s strongest, representing more than 100 New York Times best-sellers every year. Its roster of acclaimed novelists, journalists and other writers includes Nobel, Pulitzer and National Book Award winners. In 2012, the agency formed ICM Partners/Sagalyn with Washington, D.C.-based lit agent Rafe Sagalyn, and a year later formed an alliance with New York’s Gelfman Schneider Literary Agency, now called Gelfman Schneider/ICM Partners.
