Happy Corbin Reveals Which Recent WWE Career Moment Left Him Heartbroken
Matthew Cannon
He may go by the ring name "Happy Corbin" now, but it's not always smiles for veteran WWE superstar Baron Corbin.
The 37-year-old Corbin has enjoyed his fair share of success under the "Happy Corbin" gimmick, but one of the more memorable defeats of his WWE career left the former pro football player and one-time United States Champion heartbroken. More specifically, Corbin was disappointed with how his WrestleMania 38 match against Drew McIntyre played out.
The two veteran stars squared off at day one of WrestleMania 38, which took place at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas. Not only did McIntyre emerge victorious in the singles bout, but the former WWE Champion became the first superstar to kick out of Corbin's "End of Days finishing maneuver.
During an interview on "Out of Character with Ryan Satin" (h/t POST Wrestling), Corbin admitted he "selfishly" wishes that a superstar kicking out of his finisher was saved for a bigger moment.
"I mean, honestly, we’re out of character here, the 100 percent honest truth, I would have loved to have saved that for a bigger moment for me and something that selfishly would have benefited me but I think that 100 percent benefited him and where he’s going but, I think for me, I would have loved to save that for a big match with Roman Reigns or a moment where maybe I’m getting an opportunity to win a world title and we can use that prior to winning or something like that," Corbin said.
Corbin added that though McIntyre kicking out of the finisher "broke his heart", he looked on the bright side and pointed out that the streak lasted close to a decade.
"But yeah, that broke my heart," Corbin continued. I mean that was hard because that was kind of my thing. I don’t have a list of titles...But it made it nearly ten years so, that’s pretty awesome."

The loss to The Scottish Warrior at WrestleMania 38 led to Corbin turning on Madcap Moss. This led to a bout at the May 8 WrestleMania Backlash pay-per-view, which saw Moss defeat Corbin via pinfall. On last week's edition of SmackDown, Corbin once again fell short against Moss in a "Last Laugh" bout.
With Money in the Bank (July 2) and SummerSlam (July 30) right aronud the corner, it'll be interesting to see what lies ahead for both Corbin and Moss.
Corbin Makes A Fair Point
It's easy to understand Corbin's disappointment. Having a special streak like that end in a mid-card non-championship bout didn't exactly make for the most thrilling booking decision. If it was a main event or world title match, the end of the streak could have been more meaningful.
