Former WWE Women's Champion Announces She's Running For President

Writer Owen Barnes

Mickie James has announced she's running for the position of President of the United States in this year's elections.

The 40-year-old got on Twitter to make the revelation on Monday night.

"Official Announcement!! I have decided to fufill my true destiny and give the people what they really need," she wrote. "I am running for President #MJ2020 You’re welcome America! I’ll see you at the polls"

If you don't reckon she's being serious, you're probably correct. This is probably just Mickie trolling rapper Kanye West, who more than likely harbors serious plans to run for President.

"We must now realize the promise of America by trusting God, unifying our vision and building our future," West tweeted earlier this month. "I am running for president of the United States! #2020VISION."

In spite of his intentions, the artist hasn't actually registered with the Federal Election Commission or presented a formal campaign platform. With elections just four months away, the hip hop mogul will need to collect a requisite number of signatures to get on the November ballot, as well as complete a whole lot more in order to be recognized as an official candidate.

He's already missed the deadline to get registered as an independent runner in several states.

What's Really Next For Mickie James?

Meanwhile, the five-time WWE Women's Champion is waiting to return to the ring after spending over a year out following an ACL injury. She recently revealed having gotten cleared to wrestle again but the timing of the coronavirus pandemic buried plans to get her back in action.

“I’m good, I’m ready. I’m honestly just waiting," She told Chris Van Vliet (H/T 411Mania). The process of getting cleared is a whole thing. And unfortunately, my clearance time came right in the midst of this whole outbreak.

"And I was actually in Florida, I was at the Performance Center training, working with Tara [Halaby, WWE’s physical therapist], with everybody down there just [to] kinda see where I was at. I’d already done all my therapy leading up, I’d seen the doc. The doc had already cleared me. So I was literally just getting that last two weeks to get cleared to come back to in-ring action. And all this stuff, and everything got shut down. And so I went home and I just haven’t been back since.”

As for her presidential ambitions, we'll see what becomes of those in time.
