Three months ago, several WWE superstars were released, including Dolph Ziggler, Shelton Benjamin, Elias, Matt Riddle, Riddick Moss, Rick Boogs, and Mustafai Ali. As of today, the 90-day clause that forbids them from wrestling elsewhere is up. Matt Riddle is already announced for MLW. One name many are paying close attention to is Mustafa Ali. Despite his incredible talent, he never came close to his potential in WWE. So what would he do now that he is free?
There have already been Ali bookings announced for PROGRESS Wrestling, DEFY, and Prestige. While that's a fun start, even more intriguing was the cinematic video Ali just released to social media. In it, Ali, clad in a suit, gets out of a limo, walking past an excited crowd, to a podium. Ali then says, "Tonight, I stand before you a free man. A man no longer affiliated with his former party. And now, I can finally bring forth a proposal that will turn all of our problems into possibilities. You see, our great sport has fallen into the hands of leaders who are corrupt! Leaders who are selfish! Leaders that kicked down the door of opportunity only to shut that door behind them! And now, with righteous anger in my heart, I am here to announce that I am launching a campaign to rid our sport of these corrupt leaders! I will right their wrongs. And I will be the leader that we need. Because in Ali we trust."
Along with the video, images of major AEW and New Japan Pro Wrestling names were shown, like Kazuchika Okada, "Speedball" Mike Bailey, Will Ospreay, and Swerve Strickland. Does this mean we could very soon even see Mustafa Ali on AEW TV?
Bryan Danielson May Be Key To Bringing Mustafa Ali To AEW
When his non-compete expires, Danielson may be why Ali becomes All Elite. Will Mustafa Ali Succeed Outside Of WWE?
Mustafa Ali is an exceptional talent, and while the Retribution faction in WWE was absolutely awful, with Ali as its leader, it showed that he could be a charismatic sports entertainer as well. Ali's path could be a lot like Swerve Strickland's, who floundered despite his talent in NXT, yet in AEW, he has become their most over star and the one most likely to beat MJF for his AEW World Championship.
A shot elsewhere is what Mustafa Ali deserves. While seeing him in smaller promotions will be fun, however, it's somewhere bigger like AEW that will really give him the chance to show what he's capable of. 2024 is going to make for some exciting times if we get these Mustafa Ali dream matches against the likes of Okada, Ospreay, and Strickland.
