Finn Bálor's 10 Most Badass Demon Looks; Ranked
Isabella Bartlett
The idea of "war paint" has brought about some of the coolest moments and looks in wrestling's history, but it was certainly revamped when Finn Bálor was introduced in the WWE. Before becoming Finn Bálor, Fergal Devitt dominated the European independent wrestling scene and had reached superstar status in Japan, thanks in part to his creative body paint themes and distinct charisma he brought to each presentation.

Though his earlier paint iterations could be considered character cosplay, the WWE provided Devitt, now named Finn Bálor, a platform to present his own unique persona, "The Demon." Despite all demon looks being impressive and creative, these are Finn Bálor's 10 most badass "Demon" looks, ranked.
10 Monday Night Raw (8/15/2016)
Finn Bálor immediately made an impact on the main roster. After defeating Roman Reigns on his first night on Raw, Bálor secured an opportunity to become the inaugural WWE Universal Champion at SummerSlam against Seth Rollins. In the lead-up to their encounter, Bálor made Rollins aware that he was not coming alone, he was bringing "The Demon" with him.
Bálor shocked Rollins on Raw by appearing as "The Demon," this time with demon scratch text on his legs and a large tongue hanging out his chest, to issue his opponent a warning before ultimately winning the Universal Title.
9 NXT TakeOver: London
Finn Bálor was the standard-bearer at NXT, the WWE's third brand based in Winter Park, Florida's Full Sail University studio that only hosts around 400 attendees, from his debut in 2014 to his departure in 2016. As one of its top draws, Bálor and NXT were able to expand and perform at larger venues, one of them being the London's SSE Arena.
Bálor’s appearance that night was in reference to the infamous serial killer, Jack The Ripper. A caricature of a devilish-looking Jack next to a drawing of London’s Elizabeth Tower resided on Bálor’s back for this look.
8 NXT TakeOver: Dallas
Bálor's next geographically-themed body paint came at NXT's biggest show at that point. For the first time ever, an NXT TakeOver would be the lead-in to the following night's WrestleMania. Bálor was forced to make an impression, this time, in Dallas, Texas.
Finn's ensemble was a nod to the fictional Texas Chainsaw Massacre. Bálor deviated from his traditional red and black paint and snuck in some blue paint on his chest and gear and swung a chainsaw around like a madman during his entrance to strike fear into his opponent, Samoa Joe.
7 NXT TakeOver: R-Evolution
Never forget the original. This was Bálor's first appearance as "The Demon," but prior to it, fans were concerned if the WWE would ever give him the chance to demonstrate his artistic creativity through body paint. Bálor had teased "something you've never seen before," and he delivered.
The crowd at Full Sail reacted so positively to Bálor rising from the smoke on the entrance stage and showing off the teeth painted on the region of his mouth and chest, an illusion that is now the foundation for every demon look.
6 TLC 2017
When Bálor's opponent, Bray Wyatt, fell ill and had to withdraw from the match, the original idea that had Bálor set to debut an orange-dominant colorway was dropped. Fans at home and at the Target Center in Minnesota were disappointed at the prospect of Finn no longer wrestling in demon garb, but Bálor did not disappoint.

This look was unique because it felt improvised due to Wyatt being pulled out of the match just two days before the show. The awesome details here included scattered hands painted on his chest and a winged demon on his back. During this event, The Demon defeated AJ Styles in style!
5 NXT TakeOver: The End
There is a case for this look being his boldest ever. It is strange to claim that because the only two colors in use were black and white, and yet, this look jumps off as one of his most memorable. This show was titled The End and signaled the end of "The Demon" in NXT, so it was fair for Bálor to try something different on his way out.
The matte black paint covered his shoulders and the teeth on his chest and mouth were especially sharp in contrast. This take on Finn's alter-ego stands out despite its simplicity.
4 SummerSlam 2017
Bálor's first demon appearance following a lengthy injury he sustained at the previous SummerSlam was special. Judging by the reaction he received during and after his entrance, fans were starved for not only his return but also the resurrection of "The Demon."
There was a greater emphasis on the color red for this look, which was consisted of red knee pads, red boots, a red waistband, red detailing on his tights and arm sleeves, and a massive red tongue on his chest. Another striking piece was the relatively larger teeth on Bálor's chest. During the event, The Demon was able to knock off Bray Wyatt in a singles match.
3 NXT TakeOver: Unstoppable
After debuting "The Demon," it was clear that Bálor would have to one-up himself each time he unleashed it. Bálor arrived this time wearing a spiked cape and extended his arms to create the visual of wings, but the most stunning aspect of this look was the eye on his back inspired by his namesake from Irish mythology.

Bálor was a giant, one-eyed demon king. It was revealed a year later on Raw that the eye on his back belonged to the aforementioned mythological figure. The paint job resembled the demonic cyclops trying to escape from inside of Bálor.
2 WrestleMania 35
This moment deserved a more enthusiastic reaction, but seeing as WrestleMania 35 was in its twentieth hour, fans were drained. Still, fans were finally treated to a demon entrance at 'Mania after waiting nearly three years.
A demon's face (tongue, teeth, and all) was stamped on Bálor's back, along with three large claws on each side of his abdomen. A golden sun, reminiscent of that year's WrestleMania logo, replaced the teeth on his chest, which were moved to his neck, and the red paint around his eyes made this a more remarkable look.
During this event, The Demon captured the Intercontinental Championship after defeating Bobby Lashley.
1 Beast In The East
Finn Bálor's triumphant return to Japan as a member of the WWE roster was marked by capturing the NXT Championship and his incredible body paint. This look bore a resemblance to his appearance at New Japan Pro Wrestling's Wrestle Kingdom 8, both shared an airbrush effect on his body paint.
This is the only time Bálor's torso and back was completely painted over. Bálor's legs also featured a smoky design that led to the flames on his tights. The highlights of this look were the demonic face and the Japanese characters on his back that loosely translate "Demon Prince."
At the July 2015 event, The Demon defeated Kevin Owens for the NXT Championship. And he looked incredibly badass doing it!
