Every WWE WrestleMania Mixed Tag Team Match Ever, Ranked Worst To Best

Writer Owen Barnes

Part of the fun of a WrestleMania card is every so often when there’s an attraction match on the card. Sometimes it’s a match involving a celebrity or a superstar coming back for a WrestleMania payday. To varying degrees, one of the more intriguing attractions are Mixed Tag Team matches that take place at The Showcase Of The Immortals.RELATED: The 10 Most Recent Women's Championship Matches At WrestleMania, Ranked From Worst To BestSurprisingly, the Mixed Match Challenge from a few years ago didn’t lead to a Mixed Tag Team Match, but since WrestleMania 6 in 1990, there have been six Mixed Tag Team matches to take place at The Show Of Shows. With the last few taking place during this era, not only were they attractions, but they were given big storylines and a decent enough time to have a true WrestleMania moment.

6 Dusty Rhodes & Sapphire Vs. The Macho King & The Sensational Queen - WrestleMania 6

Sapphire Sherri And Dusty

The feud between The American Dream Dusty Rhodes and The Macho King Randy Savage was a simple but effective one, thanks to all parties involved. The Common Man had little to no interest in bowing down to the King and Queen and weren’t going to allow royalty to put themselves above anyone else in the company.

It all led to the first ever Mixed Tag Team match, alongside Sweet Sapphire and The Sensational Queen, Sherri at Skydome in Toronto. Big Dust brought in Miss Elizabeth to really get under The Macho King's skin, which also in turn helped lead The Dream to victory.

5 Doink & Dink Vs. Bam Bam Bigelow & Luna Vachon - WrestleMania 10

After a year or so of being a demented clown, ol’ Doink was starting to find his sense of humor again. He also found a friend in the diminutive Dink and the duo started pulling pranks on the heels instead of the babyfaces.

That placed them right into the crosshairs of Bam Bam Bigelow and his main squeeze, Luna Vachon. The four collided at WrestleMania 10, and The Beast From The East and Luna obliterated the clowns, even after Luna missed a big moonsault, which at the time was a huge move for anyone, let alone a woman. This isn't technically a mixed tag team match, but Vachon's performance merits its inclusion.

4 Marc Mero & Sable Vs. Goldust & Luna Vachon - WrestleMania 14

Luna Vachon actually gets the distinction of being in two Mixed Tag Team matches at WrestleMania. At WrestleMania 14, she would team up with her new boo, The Artist Formerly Known As Goldust to do battle with her bitter in-ring and backstage rival, Sable and Marc Mero. The second generation star was a little more than perturbed that she was getting passed up for Sable, whose second match was this one.

But she also knew how to do business and played nice to help make the blond bombshell look good in the ring. Sable was able to deliver her version of the powerbomb, The Sable Bomb for the victory.

3 John Cena & Nikki Bella Vs. The Miz & Maryse - WrestleMania 33

Take two throwbacks from The Divas Era. Toss in the main event from WrestleMania 27 and you get the Mixed Tag Team Match from WrestleMania 33. This time, years of pent-up frustration had been fueling The Miz and Maryse. Frustration that no matter what they did singularly or as a couple was seldom being recognized and being grossly overlooked by the fans in favor of people like Nikki Bella and John Cena.

The match was pretty good and led to what it now the awkward moment of John Cena proposing to Nikki Bella in the ring. However, once again it really was The It Couple who stole the show.

2 John Morrison, Snooki, & Trish Stratus Vs. Dolph Ziggler & LayCool - WrestleMania 27

During The Diva Era, seldom was a heel duo more over than LayCool - Michelle McCool and Layla. The two former Diva Search competitors had fun mocking anyone and everyone. They even helped Vickie Guerrero defeat Trish Stratus on Raw, much to the dismay of The Jersey Shore’s Snooki, who was Guest Hosting Raw this evening.

After the skirmish, Vickie challenged the two girls to take on LayCool and her boyfriend, Dolph Ziggler. After a bar fight ensued to help Snooki get ready for the match, the pint-sized pint drinker showed off some of her skills, including a handspring elbow to make sure that she didn’t look as foolish in the ring as some fans thought she might have.

1 Kurt Angle & Ronda Rousey Vs. Triple H & Stephanie McMahon - WrestleMania 34

Stephanie McMahon And Kurt Angle

Several firsts happened during the WrestleMania 34 Mixed Tag Team Match. It was Kurt’s first WrestleMania in eight years. It was also the in-ring WrestleMania debut for Stephanie McMahon and the first ever wrestling match anywhere for Rowdy Ronda Rousey. Toss in Triple H to square off the occasion, reigniting the feud he once had with Kurt Angle.

The match was all the makings of an instant WrestleMania moment, and it was one of the rare instances that a match lived up to all expectations.
