Every Version Of Dolph Ziggler, Ranked From Worst To Best

Writer Daniel Davis

Dolph Ziggler is one of the veterans of the WWE roster, having made his debut back in 2005. Since that point, Ziggler has had a lot of ups and downs in what has been a real rollercoaster of a career, but throughout it all, he has consistently been a tremendous performer inside the ring.

Dolph has created some incredible moments throughout his career, whether as a top babyface or a major heel. He has portrayed a variety of gimmicks and shown various versions of himself along the way, some of which have worked, and others which didn't quite connect with the audience.

12 The Caddy

Because this version of Dolph Ziggler was so long ago, a lot of wrestling fans have either forgotten or aren't even aware of this part of his career. However, that's probably a good thing, because it wasn't a good section.

He was the caddy for Kerwin White (Chavo Guerrero), which was a gimmick totally focused on golf. Even Chavo couldn't get over with this one, so Dolph never stood a chance.

11 Relationship With Maria

When Dolph Ziggler first returned to WWE after time away to help fans forget the Spirit Squad, he was repackaged as a guy who would arrogantly introduce himself to everyone backstage. He acted cocky, but in the ring, he was constantly beaten by everyone.

It eventually led to him being in an on-screen relationship with Maria, but that didn't really help his luck either. He blamed her for the losses which led to the split, but Dolph just wasn't presented as a top star during this period.

10 Romance With Lana

Another romantic angle that Dolph Ziggler had involved Lana. He ended up in an on-screen relationship with her and started feuding with Rusev, in what turned into a mess of a storyline.

When Rusev and Lana's real-life engagement was leaked, it was clear this would never work. This quickly was dropped and the situation just ended up being a bad one for everybody involved.

9 Spirit Squad

Spirit Squad

It might seem surprising to see his Spirit Squad run as high as this, mainly because the group was treated like total jobbers throughout their run together. The male cheerleading gimmick never really caught on, but they were always able to be part of top storylines.

They battled against D-Generation X a lot and had Vince McMahon behind them as well. While the group was a joke, they have gone down in history, with this turning into a memorable period for him.

8 Team With Jack Swagger

This is one tag team that never quite clicked despite the talent involved. However, even though Jack Swagger and Dolph Ziggler weren't that memorable together, Dolph did enjoy a run as United States Champion in this period.

He was a good champion, having Vickie Guerrero and Swagger around him to really add the heel heat. Ziggler's main rival during this point was Zack Ryder, and because he was incredibly popular at the time, it actually ended up being very entertaining.

7 Relationship With Vickie Guerrero

The on-screen relationship that Dolph Ziggler started with Vickie Guerrero did seem odd at first, but it quickly began to click. It pushed Ziggler into the main events as Vickie abused her power as SmackDown GM to give Ziggler an undeserved World Title.

His feud with Edge was a good one and it certainly helped Dolph develop as a singles wrestler. He was able to be over the top with his confidence due to Vickie's power and that made for an interesting combination.

6 Partnership With Robert Roode

The tag team run alongside Robert Roode is what Dolph Ziggler is doing currently, and it is one that just works really nicely. The duo complements each other perfectly and has really good chemistry together both in and out of the ring.

They've had some great matches against other teams and both really found their place in WWE after a period of struggling alone. Their arrogant personalities are brilliant together, with their in-ring styles combining nicely together.

5 Battling The Authority

Ziggler and The Authority

During The Authority's reign of terror over WWE, Dolph Ziggler is one of the wrestlers who found himself involved in a storyline against them. His Intercontinental Championship run came to an end at the hands of the group with Luke Harper defeating him as The Authority pushed against him.

This was a good babyface run for Ziggler who got a huge moment at Survivor Series as he battled against the group, being the sole survivor against them after the debut of Sting.

4 Partnership With Drew McIntyre

Ziggler became a six-time IC champion in 2018

This partnership clicked instantly. Nobody saw it coming but when Drew McIntyre returned to the main roster, he did so as the muscle for Dolph. It allowed Ziggler to be an incredibly arrogant and cocky heel, trash-talking constantly due to his confidence of Drew being behind him.

They then transitioned into being a tag team and were very effective, becoming champions. It was a great period with Ziggler being an Intercontinental Champion and a Tag Champion during the run, feuding with Seth Rollins and Dean Ambrose to create some great matches.

3 World Heavyweight Champion

Ziggler has fared better as Intercontinental champion

Dolph Ziggler's Money in the Bank cash-in the night after WrestleMania 29 still remains the greatest cash-in of all time. The pop from the crowd was a huge sign of respect towards him, and Ziggler became a top name in the company.

His feud with Alberto Del Rio was entertaining and the two had some really hard-hitting matches. It's just a shame that a concussion derailed this period of Ziggler's career, stopping it from becoming as good as it was meant to be.

2 Mr. Money In The Bank

Even though the Money in the Bank run is all about the eventual pay-off of becoming World Champion, Ziggler's spell with the briefcase was epic. He made the most of the situation and became one of the top stars in the company.

He would tease cashing in, with AJ Lee and then Big E by his side, creating a nice dynamic. Ziggler and Big E worked as a tag team and Dolph had a good feud with Chris Jericho during this period as well where he really was firing on all cylinders.

1 Feud With The Miz

When Dolph Ziggler and The Miz feuded over the Intercontinental Championship in 2016 they surprised everyone. People were initially not sold on the idea of this rivalry, but the real-life friends quickly ensured everyone was sucked into their storyline.

Their promos were incredible and in the ring, they put together some amazing performances. Their match at No Mercy that year was particularly incredible, stealing the show and showcasing both Ziggler and Miz at their very best.
