Erick Rowan Debuts On Dynamite To Pay Tribute To Brodie Lee

Writer Owen Barnes

Erick Rowan made an unexpected appearance on Dynamite, chasing off Wardlow and paying tribute to his good friend, Brodie Lee.

Since Jon Huber passed away over the weekend, it has become clear exactly how many people he influenced in the wrestling business. Whether it be wrestlers he has only spent the last few months with in AEW, or those he worked with for years in WWE. Everyone and anyone has been paying tribute to Huber on social media for the last few days.

That led to last night's episode of Dynamite. A show that was initially supposed to celebrate the New Year, but was switched to make it a tribute show to Huber. It featured matches dedicated to the former TNT Champion, including a six-man tag pitting Brodie Lee Jr's dream team against members of The Dark Order, the faction his dad was the leader of.

Other members of The Dark Order teamed with Hangman Page and faced off against three members of The Inner Circle. During that match, Erick Redbeard, formerly known as Erick Rowan when wrestling with WWE, made his AEW debut. Chris Jericho, who was on commentary, actually called him Erick Rowan when he first appeared. Excalibur quickly corrected him. Redbeard's first order of business was to chase off Wardlow who was trying to interfere in the match.

After John Silver used Huber's Discus Clothesline to pick up the win, Redbeard returned to the ring to celebrate with him, Alex Reynolds, and Page. The former Tag Team Champion brought a sign to the ring with him that read, "Goodbye for now my brother. See you down the road." A reference to Huber always saying goodbye forever to his family whenever he had to leave so that the little time he got to spend with them each week felt like forever.

Speaking of Huber's family, his son Brodie Lee Jr. was in the crowd. He even hit MJF on the head with a kendo stick during this match and was shown wearing a Dark Order mask after the 1-2-3. As for Redbeard's time in AEW, it's currently unclear whether he has signed with the company, or if it was a one-off in honor of Huber. Redbeard hasn't wrestled since he was released by WWE earlier this year, where he was arguably closer to Huber than anyone aside from his own family.
