Roman Reigns and Edge have already engaged in some trash talk on Twitter as they await their clash Money in the Bank, set for July 18 at Dickies Arena in Fort Worth, Texas.

Last week, the Rated-R Superstar returned to WWE programming for the first time since WrestleMania 37, when Reigns defeated the Hall of Famer and Daniel Bryan in a triple threat match to retain the Universal Championship. Edge showed up at the end of SmackDown last week and attacked Reigns, setting up their next showdown at Money in the Bank.

Reigns took to Twitter and called out Edge for wanting another taste of the "Island of Relevancy." Predictably, The Ultimate Opportunist responded.

Edge won this year's men's Royal Rumble match and decided to challenge Reigns at WrestleMania 37. Following a controversial loss to Reigns at Fastlane, Bryan was added to the WrestleMania bout, which closed out night two of WrestleMania 37. Reigns overcame multiple close calls and pinned both superstars at the same time for a successful title defense.

So Money in the Bank will mark the very first one-on-one match between the Universal Champion and Edge. Reigns, of course, has yet to lose a match cleanly since he returned and became a heel at the end of SummerSlam 2020. His Universal title reign (302 days and counting) is the second-longest in history.

Edge Vs Reigns Is A Match Of The Year Candidate

Edge remains a world-class performer in the ring. The aforementioned triple threat bout at WrestleMania was nothing short of thrilling and entertaining. Now, we get to see two all-time greats duke it out for the title at Money in the Bank. This will also be the first pay-per-view on WWE's upcoming 25-city tour that commences in Houston on July 16.

When you throw in the live crowd for the show, Edge vs. Reigns has a real chance to be the best WWE match of 2021.
