Details of Vince McMahon's Involvement In Raw On Monday Night

Reports heading into Monday's episode of Raw were that Vince McMahon was in attendance. Seen backstage, it wasn't clear why exactly he was there, other than many assumed it was to visit John Cena whose return was featured on the show. Reports surfaced later that Vince was hanging around all evening and at the Gorilla position during the broadcast, a place typically reserved for those helping with the show's production.
"Wrestling Observer Radio" was among the many media outlets reporting that McMahon was sitting where he used to sit regularly when he would run the show. That said, Fightful Select reports that McMahon's presence wasn't a huge concern throughout the show. It was more his physical appearance that "turned heads" as McMahon had dyed his hair and was sporting a small mustache that resembled that of Gomez Addams from "The Addams Family."
While McMahon was happy to greet talent, but it was not like he was running anything or heavily involved in the production. He was not said to be "providing instructions, feedback, or orders" from what they saw. Many believed he was just there to visit and test the waters about how he might be perceived by the roster and the production team. Some said that if he shows up for "SmackDown" in Pittsburgh, people behind the scenes might start to question things.
Some Talent Simply Avoided Vince
There are reports that some on the roster didn't go out of their way to say hello or converse with McMahon. Of the talent who were a bit shocked to see him there, there were some who steered clear. It doesn't sound like anyone was told McMahon would be present in advance and there's a bit of a feeling some backstage would have appreciated the heads up considering everything that has happened over the past nine months.
