CM Punk Victorious, Chris Jericho's New Stable Wins Big

Writer Daniel Cobb

The Texas crowd was hotter than hell for this stacked edition of AEW Dynamite. The card featured some of the heaviest hitters AEW has to offer. The match quality was high across the board, and several vital angles progressed excitingly.

Here are your winners and losers from the March 23rd installment of AEW Dynamite.

Winners: CM Punk and Dax Harwood Deliver A Great Opening Match

On the 25th anniversary of Bret Hart and Steve Austin's classic WrestleMania 13 match, Tony Khan booked a match between two Hart enthusiasts to open the show. As one would expect, CM Punk and Dax Harwood delivered on an exceptional contest. The bout was expertly executed, riddled with dozens of noteworthy spots and Hitman homages, a Dax sharpshooter, and a superplex that would make Bret proud.

CM Punk would come out on top when he locked in a savage Anaconda Vice submission hold. Harwood tapped out and thus concluded a brilliant opener.

Winners: The Hardys, Sting & Darby Allin

The 8-Man tag team match was chock-full of breathtaking spots. The contest opened with dives from Darby Allin and the 63-year-old Sting. The eight competitors brawled throughout the arena. At one point, The Butcher through Allin down a flight of stairs. Jeff Hardy delivered a Swanton Bomb to the Butcher and the Blade from an insanely high window sill.

The match concluded with Sting and Matt Hardy hitting stereo finishers. The Scorpion Death Drop and the Twist of Fate were hit in tandem on Private Party for the victory.

Winners: Bryan Danielson & Jon Moxley Dominate Again

Bryan Danielson and Jon Moxley continued their destructive run as a tag team by annihilating The Varsity Blondes. The dynamic duo continued to hone their work as teammates and showed off their expertise in kicking a**. After their victory, Jon Moxley cut a promo that finally revealed their stable's name. "If you want a badge of honor from the Blackpool Combat Club, there's only one way to get it - the hard way."

Losers: Wardlow Can't Break Free Of MJF

MJF cut a dense promo filled with a lot of information. He started by saying that he and CM Punk would meet again at some point. The meat and potatoes of the promo were directed at Wardlow, who he claimed was still under contract with MJF. When Wardlow tried to intervene, he was stopped by ten brute security guards. Maxwell concluded his promo by saying that The Pinnacle was alive and well.

Winner: Adam Cole Victorious, Rises In The Ranks

The third-ranked Jay Lethal squared off against the fourth-ranked Adam Cole. The contest was filled with hope spots, near falls, and jaw-dropping counters. Lethal was channeling his Ric Flair character adoption, struttin' and executing a figure four leg lock. When Jay went for his Lethal injection, he was met with a Superkick in mid-air, followed by a Panama Sunrise. Cole's friends, reDRagon, had the referee distracted when Jay went for another Lethal Injection, but this time, Cole hit him with a low blow. He followed that with his Boom finisher for the victory.

Post-match, Cole expressed that he was more than interested in a rematch for the AEW Championship. Page came down to the ring and used his belt to whip Cole and reDRagon. The three men would get the upper hand before Jurassic Express came out for the save. Cole escaped, stealing Page's AEW Championship belt.

Winner: Leyla Hirsch Wins The Rubber Match

Red Velvet and Leyla Hirsch were on track for their finest match in their trilogy. Both women looked tremendous to start. Unfortunately, the match wasn't given enough time to reach the category of "great." Leyla cheated once again by using a steel turnbuckle post on Velvet. After the match, Kris Statlander came to Red Velvet's defense.

Winners: The Jericho Appreciation Society Victorious

Chris Jericho and Daniel Garcia worked well together in their first match as a tag team. However, the seasoned Dark Order team of John Silver and Alex Reynolds looked even more impressive. Silver looked great; he barreled through the entire Jericho Appreciation Society at one point.

JAS got the victory when Jericho used his bat, Floyd, to wack the back of Reynolds. That opening allowed Garcia to execute his modified Scorpion Death Lock for the submission victory.
