Series stars Brian Tee and Steven Weber share their thoughts on the upcoming Chicago Med season 7 finale and tease its lifechanging stakes.
Series stars Brian Tee and Steven Weber tease the explosive Chicago Med season 7 finale. The medical drama, which premiered on NBC in 2015, is part of megaproducer Dick Wolf's Chicago franchise, which also includes Chicago Fire, Chicago P.D., and Chicago Justice. This particular entry follows the staff of the emergency department of the Gaffney Chicago Medical Center and their various dramas as they attempt to save the lives of Chicagoans of every stripe. With Chicago Med season 7 currently airing, the show's massive ensemble cast includes Nick Gehlfuss, Yaya DaCosta, Torrey DeVitto, Rachel DiPillo, Colin Donnell, and The Big C's Oliver Platt.
Tee and Weber are both members of the main cast of Chicago Med season 7. Tee has been on the series since episode 1 playing Dr. Ethan Choi, an infectious disease expert who arrived at the hospital after serving as the USS Carl Vinson's medical officer as part of the United States Navy Reserve, in which he holds the position of lieutenant commander. Weber is a newer addition to the show, having joined in a recurring role in season 6 before being upgraded to series regular this season. He plays Dr. Dean Archer, a Navy emergency physician who is Dr. Choi's former mentor.
Now, Tee and Weber speak to CinemaBlend ahead of the Chicago Med season 7 finale, which airs tonight, May 25, 2022. The episode will be especially important to the arcs of both characters, as Dr. Choi has just stepped down from his position as ED chief, and the position was filled by Dr. Archer. While Tee, whose character has been absent from a large chunk of the season due to a gunshot wound, teases a "massive surprise at the end," Weber calls the finale "exciting as hell," saying he was "very moved." Read both of their quotes below:
Steven Weber: I was very moved. I was very moved after the season's arcs. A lot of the stories are tied up, but not in a neat way. It's fascinating, and it's great to be able to actually observe Ethan get a sense of closure. It's a sense of it, without giving too much away. And also, it's just a good damn show. It's a good damn story. And it's very satisfying. It's really satisfying. Without giving too much away, it's exciting as hell! This episode is not just Ethan, and Archer looking at Ethan. There's stuff going on, that's gonna make people go “WHAT?!”
Brian Tee: [There’s a] massive, massive surprise at the end of it.
Steven Weber: It’s crazy.
Tonight's Chicago Med season 7 finale is titled, appropriately, "And Now We Come to the End." The episode will see storylines coming to a head across the board, with Will and Hannah butting heads over a kidney transplant, Crockett struggling while Blake is in surgery, and a new person joining the hospital crew. However, the most intriguing storyline is indeed that of Ethan and Archer, who must work together on an all-important patient: the hospital general counsel's son.
There's no clue as to what the surprise Tee is teasing might be, but it is likely due to the mysterious person who will be joining Chicago Med. It may be a character who is returning after a long absence, or a new special guest star who will return next season. Thankfully, any cliffhangers will be followed through, as season 8 was already guaranteed as part of a triple renewal for the series back in 2020.
