Cheaper By the Dozen Reboot Release Set For March 2022 On Disney+

Disney+ announces a reboot of Cheaper by the Dozen is coming to the streaming service in March 2022, starring Zach Braff and Gabrielle Union.
An updated reboot of Cheaper by the Dozen is coming to Disney+ in March 2022. This would actually be the fourth iteration of the concept, which can be traced all the way back to the 1948 autobiography Cheaper by the Dozen by Frank Bunker Gilbreth Jr. and Ernestine Gilbreth Carey. It was first adapted into a film in 1950, starring Clifton Webb and Myrna Loy. That film was followed by a sequel, Belles on Their Toes, which also starred Loy.
The version that is certainly more well known for modern audiences would be the 2003 Cheaper by the Dozen, which starred Steve Martin and Bonnie Hunt as the parents. Several of the children were played by young stars of the time, including Piper Perabo, Tom Welling, Hilary Duff, and Alyson Stoner. That film also got a sequel, which followed it by two years.
For Disney+ Day, Disney revealed that they have a new reboot of Cheaper by the Dozen coming to streaming in March 2022. The film will focus on a multiracial blended family of 12 and star Zach Braff, who is best known for starring in the medical comedy series Scrubs, and Gabrielle Union, whose many credits include Bring It On and Almost Christmas, as the parents. Swimfan's Erika Christensen will also be appearing. The stars joined together for a video announcement, and a further post shared the logo for the new film. Check out both posts below:
Cheaper by the Dozen 2022 was directed by television director Gail Lerner, who has also worked on series like Black-ish and Awkward. She's working from a script by Black-ish creator Kenya Barris, who also penned the screenplays for films like Girls Trip and Coming 2 America. The young cast will include Simeon Othello Daise (All American), Mykal-Michelle Harris (Mixed-ish), Andre Robinson (The Loud House), Luke Prael (Eighth Grade), and Kylie Rogers (Yellowstone).
Not much else is known about the Cheaper by the Dozen reboot at this time. The basic premise is broad enough for every film adapted from the book to follow a completely different plotline, and details are still thin on the ground. However, given how quickly March is approaching, it is likely that fans will be getting a trailer sooner rather than later. Likewise, in the promotional video Zach Braff implied that the film was shot quite a while ago, potentially even before the pandemic, so it's likely that the company already has all the assets they need ready to go.
