Bobby Lashley Says He And Brock Lesnar Aren't "Done", Hopes For Rematch

Writer Daniel Davis

If former WWE Champion Bobby Lashley gets his wish, he'll get a second match with Brock Lesnar on The Grandest Stage of Them All.

The two former World Champions and MMA stars finally squared off for the first time at Royal Rumble 2022 four months ago. The match itself didn't exactly live up to expectations for obvious reasons. WWE wanted to protect Lesnar ahead of a WrestleMania 38 showdown with Roman Reigns, so they had The Tribal Chief attack Lesnar and cost him the match against The Almighty.

Thanks to assistance from Reigns, Lashley managed to score the pinfall victory on Lesnar to become the new WWE Champion. Lesnar, of course, went on to win the men's Royal Rumble match later that night. Lesnar would become the new WWE Champion at Elimination Chamber to set up the "Winner Takes All" title unification match with Reigns at WrestleMania.

During an interview on WWE's The Bump (h/t WrestlingNews.co), Lashley explained that he doesn't think his feud with Lesnar is finished just yet. Furthermore, Lashley specifically would like a rematch to take place at WrestleMania 39 next year.

"Right now everybody is looking at…we’re in LA (Los Angeles) next year, right for WrestleMania? If we’re in Hollywood it’s a big matchup," Lashley said. "For me, I’ve always had these really tough challenges going into WrestleMania, which, of course, this one, has to be another big one. Me and Brock, we still have a little score to settle. I have a win over him and then he ended up winning my title back but we’re not done. We’re not done, that’s first off."

WrestleMania 39 will take place at SoFi Stadium (home of the NFL's Los Angeles Rams and Chargers) in Inglewood, California on the Apr. 1-2 weekend. This will mark the fourth straight WrestleMania event to run over two days.

WWE Needs To Eventually Run A Lashley-Lesnar Rematch

With WrestleMania set to take place in the Los Angeles market for the first time since 2005, WWE will obviously want to stack this card with as many marquee matches as possible. Certainly, a Lashley-Lesnar bout would go a long way in maximizing the excitement and hype of WrestleMania 39.

The bottom line is that at some point, WWE absoluely has to book Lashley vs. Lesnar again — this time with a clean finish. Both men are in their mid-40s but remain high-level in-ring performers. WWE shouldn't wait much longer to run a better match between these two, because there won't be many better opportunities down the road.
