Big Brother Brazil 21 winner Juliette Freire gained 24 million followers on Instagram while competing on the show. Find out how she was able to do it.
Update: Since this article was published, Juliette Freire has already reached 26 million followers on Instagram.
Juliette Freire was crowned the winner of Big Brother Brazil 21 after gaining a record-breaking 24 million followers on Instagram during her time on the show. For 21 seasons, Big Brother Brazil has been a massive hit for Globo - attracting millions of viewers every single year. The Brazilian edition, which is often referred to as BBB, started its 21st season in January 2021. This cast featured 10 anonymous players and 10 celebrity contestants, all competing for a grand prize of R$1.5 million.
Juliette Freire was cast on Big Brother Brazil 21 as a completely anonymous person. She was a 32-year-old lawyer-turned-makeup artist from Campina Grande, Paraíba with about 3,000 followers. But between entering the BBB house on January 25, 2021 and winning the season on May 4, 2021, Juliette gained 24 million followers on Instagram - more than any Big Brother contestant in history. Like all Big Brother shows on the planet, the players don't have access to the outside world, including their phones and social media accounts. Before being sequestered for season 21, Juliette had asked a few friends to run her accounts while she competed on the show, which is a very standard procedure for all Big Brother Brazil players.
The thing is, Juliette Freire could've never predicted that she'd break every Big Brother Brazil record when it comes to social media growth. In order to keep up with her growing popularity on the show, Juliette's social media team had not only to grow but also get more organized. As detailed by Meio & Mensagem, Juliette's social media team grew to 21 professionals during the 100 days that she spent inside the house. Juliette's friend and business manager Huayna Tejo oversees the entire team, which includes an Instagram engagement manager, a Twitter content lead, a TikTok/Spotify content lead, a Facebook content lead, a full-time designer, three video editors, and a photographer, among others.
It was vital for Juliette Freire's social media growth to involve a large team that could keep up with the nonstop reactions coming from fans watching the Big Brother live feeds. According to a separate report by Meio & Mensagem, Juliette is already on track to land marketing contracts worth R$4 million (in US dollars, that's close to $1 million per contract). In other words, each of Juliette's marketing contracts post-Big Brother Brazil 21 would be two times the grand prize of the American edition of Big Brother, which has been $500,000 for 22 seasons. If that were not enough, Juliette's beautiful singing voice has also already gotten the attention of many music producers, as reported by POPline.
As it stands, Juliette Freire has already been hired by a notorious PR agency in Brazil known as BPM. Aside from Juliette, the agency also oversees artists such as Anitta, Maria Rita, Pedro Sampaio, and Thiaguinho, who are all extremely popular musicians in the country. Tonight, as Juliette finally leaves the Big Brother Brazil 21 house, she will find out just how much her life has changed in the last 100 days.
