Bianca Belair Wants To Be NXT Women's Champion

Highlights
- Becky Lynch's return to NXT allowed her to become a Grand Slam champion and accomplish something she never did in her previous run.
- Bianca Belair, despite her success on the main roster, still feels the need to win the NXT Women's Championship as a validation of her skills.
- A return to NXT or a potential heel turn could rejuvenate Belair's character and potentially lead to the same success as Lynch's career twist.
Recently, Becky Lynch's career took a twist when The Man returned to NXT. Lynch is arguably the greatest women's wrestler of all-time, but despite her long run in NXT many years ago, she never won the NXT Women's Championship like the other members of The Four Horsewomen did. Lynch went back to NXT and defeated Tiffany Stratton to become a Grand Slam champion. She defended it against all comers, before losing it to Lyra Valkyria. While the reign was short, it checked off an accomplishment Becky Lynch never completed and showed off how she could not only build up but hold her own with the next generation of women in WWE.
Another former NXT talent who never won gold there is now thinking about wanting to do the same thing. On the main roster, Bianca Belair is a three-time women's champion and the winner of the 2021 Women's Royal Rumble, but she was never the biggest star during her time in NXT. In an interview on The Wrestling Classic podcast, Belair spoke about wanting to rectify that. "When I saw Becky in 'NXT' and then she got the title, I was like, 'Oh, wait,' because she never got the title when she was in 'NXT' and so I was like very happy for her. I was like, 'You go and get that title' because we all know that — especially because when you start in 'NXT' — that's where you're trying to prove yourself.
"So when I saw her get that title I was like, I know that was like a check mark for her. And even though she's gone to do like great things, that was always like something she wanted to check off her list... You know what, I can feel her' because I feel the same way. So, yes, I can see, like one day, trying to go and mark that off of my accomplishments list."

Will Bianca Belair Be The Next Main Roster Star In NXT?
Bianca Belair took a several month hiatus from WWE before returning to SmackDown recently. While she will be part of Survivor Series, many have said that her character is in need of a change. Perhaps that could be a heel turn (which Belair was in NXT), or a short return to NXT. If it rejuvenated Lynch, it could do the same for Bianca.
Belair said, "That's where the grind is like real and you're trying to show like I belong here and that's like the foundation of everything. So to leave 'NXT' without the title, even though you go and, you know, I was able to, like Becky, main event at WrestleMania, I've been three-time champion, I've done historic matches on the main roster. It's still in the back of your mind, where you're just like, but I never got that back then. For me, that 'NXT' title was like validation for me when I was in 'NXT' and I never understood like, 'Why can't I accomplish this and get this title because if I can't do this here, how can I do things on the main roster?'"
