Becca Kufrin & Thomas Jacobs Reveal Proposal Details

Writer Emma Terry

Bachelor Nation fan-favorite Becca Kufrin proposed to her Bachelor In Paradise love Thomas Jacobs. Now they reveal what led up to this special event.

Thomas Jacobs Becca Kufrin Engaged Bachelor In Paradise Bachelorette

Bachelor In Paradise lovebirds Becca Kufrin and Thomas Jacobs are revealing the events that led up to their engagement, which they announced on Instagram on May 29, two weeks after Becca surprised Thomas with a proposal. Becca previously had been proposed to during The Bachelor season 22 and her own season of The Bachelorette. Since those relationships ended, fans had been rooting for her to find true love. Thomas had a very different experience with the franchise, as he became a villain in Katie Thurston's season of The Bachelorette in 2021. He made the mistake of admitting to the other contestants that he would be open to becoming the next Bachelor, and Katie told him to leave. It wasn't until Bachelor In Paradise that fans had the chance to see the real Thomas.

Becca and Thomas met last summer on the beach in Mexico. They felt an instant connection, but Becca broke up with him right before the end of the season. However, they found their way back to each other after Becca called Thomas to apologize after Bachelor In Paradise filming was over, and they have been together ever since. After much speculation about a possible proposal, Becca and Thomas shocked Bachelor Nation with their surprise engagement announcement. In what she called the ultimate plot twist, Becca proposed to Thomas.

During the Bachelor Happy Hour podcast, which Becca co-hosts with Michelle Young, she and Thomas revealed the events that led up to the proposal. Becca shared that she started planning in early- to mid-April when she was the host of The Bachelor Live On Stage tour. She said that she wanted Thomas to know how much she loved him and, since she had already been proposed to twice and is all about "female empowerment," she decided that she would ask him to marry her. Becca proposed on May 15, and they only told their close family and friends. Thomas said that he had no idea that she was going to propose, even when she was pulling out the ring box, and that "it was one of those very rare, genuine, surreal moments." In order to surprise him on the day of the proposal, Becca told Thomas that they were participating in a photo shoot for her wine company, Bourdon.

For the ring, Becca designed a gold band with a little baguette diamond in the middle that fits Thomas' style perfectly. Inside the ring, she had a sunflower engraved because sunflowers remind him of his dog, Sofia, who passed away. She also plans to have "To the moon and back" engraved in the ring. The former Bachelorette star wanted to incorporate Sofia into the proposal, so she brought her ashes and sunflowers to the picnic in the park, along with their dogs. Thomas revealed that Becca gave him a card with a love note and a QR code with a link to a video of all of his friends and family telling him why they love him. Becca shared that she did not get down on one knee, but she did ask for and receive Thomas' mother's blessing, who said that she was already part of the family.

On the morning of the proposal, the couple went to a Farmer's Market, where they had a card reading done that predicted their proposal. The psychic then asked Thomas what sunflowers meant to him because she saw Becca's father handing Thomas a bouquet of sunflowers. Bachelor In Paradise's Becca and Thomas marveled about how the psychic knew about their engagement, and Becca called it "kismet."

Becca and Thomas' engagement certainly seems meant to be. Becca's decision to propose to Thomas is one of the greatest twists in Bachelor Nation history. Their love is pure and true, and it seems as though it will last forever. Becca and Thomas' story is another Bachelor In Paradise fairy tale.
